I still don’t understand
What in God’s name the idiots who think it’a a holy calling Not to Vote and Support the EEEVIL SYSTEM!!!!1!!ONE! will do if their prepubescent dreams come true? Are you prepared? For what, for god sakes? Do you think the ammo cans and shelves of pork and beans are gonna fix this? Do you think you’re some kind of ninja who can survive the zombie apocalypse by sheer force of will?
I guess people think Unintended Consequences is something that happens to other people.

I’ll be voting this year because I can. Yes, I think Romney is a little too much like Obama, but I’ll vote for him in November even if he chooses Santorum as his Vice President. Santorum lost me when he talked about cracking down on Internet Porn if elected. I’m not saying I approve of Internet Porn, I’m saying given all the more critical issues our country faces, that Internet Porn makes the list, there is something terribly wrong with your list.
They are the same kind of now-and-again voters who popped up like mushrooms to vote for Obama because they thought it would be “cool” and reflect well on them. They’re Point-of-Pride voters and its all about Them.
Then the Zombie Ninja bit them on the head and they returned to the basement and internet porn.
It is amazing to see how easily distracted by shiny moral issues the right is, isn’t it?
Do you think you’re some kind of ninja who can survive the zombie apocalypse by sheer force of will?
Not at all. You also need good scavenging skills and a sturdy safe room. It also helps if you are the natural leader type and still in your prime so you can attract non-zombie women into your new community. Finally, being able to distill your own spirits, brew beer, and vint wine will ensure you stay popular and useful even if you can’t shoot and didn’t stock up on ammo and canned food.
You keep the dream alive, prof.
When I show up with a core drill and a tank truck full of sewage, those sturdy safe houses will seem as silly to their owners as they do to me.
The safe room is to defend against mindless zombies, not against peer-competitors. In zombie movies, the safe rooms always get defeated by the people living in them doing something stupid, like proping the door open, forgetting to lock it, or inviting in new people who then hit you on the head, steal your stuff and leave you tied up for the Zombie luncheon.
Bulldozers work well against fortified structures too (Israeli soluton).
lol. yep, I like the dozers.
If Mitt gets the nod, the Presidential election is the only one I won’t be voting in. I’ll vote in the others.
…actually I may cast my vote for whoever the Libertarians put forward, just on general principles–so I might not withhold my vote in the Presidential election after all; I simply won’t vote for Romney.
“Why should a self-respecting citizen endorse an institution grounded in thievery? For that is what one does when one votes. If it be argued that we must let bygones be bygones, see what we can do toward cleaning up the institution so that it can be used for the maintenance of an orderly existence, the answer is that it cannot be done; we have been voting for one “good government” after another, and what have we got? Perhaps the silliest argument, and yet the one invariably advanced when this succession of failures is pointed out, is that “we must choose the lesser of two evils.” Under what compulsion are we to make such a choice? Why not pass up both of them?
To effectuate the suggested revolution all that is necessary is to stay away from the polls. Unlike other revolutions, it calls for no organization, no violence, no war fund, no leader to sell it out. In the quiet of his conscience each citizen pledges himself, to himself, not to give moral support to an unmoral institution, and on election day he remains at home. That’s all. I started my revolution 25 years ago and the country is none the worse for it.”

Mr. Chodorov’s individual solution from 1945 tastes great, is less filling, and won’t work en masse, for the reasons Og notes above.
I’ll vote for Mittens, too, if that’s how it shakes out. I have been gritting my teeth and holding my nose for years already. But anyone is better than Øbama, except maybe for Crazy Uncle, and even then I think I’d rather have Crazy Uncle.
I believe that, past a certain level of prudence, preppers don’t understand how massively interdependent society is. The bottom line fact is YOU (the general you) will not survive the zombie apocalypse.
Your best bet is to prevent its eventuation. In order to do that, you have to be a participating member of society. It’s whatcha call your civic duty.
And, if more people were doing it all along, we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with.

“To effectuate the suggested revolution all that is necessary is to stay away from the polls.”
maybe, one day, Libs, you’ll actually, you know, read the actual words I read instead of just spouting back the stipidity that you’ve chosen to cling to. until then, you are just another flavor of sheep.
“And, if more people were doing it all along, we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with.”
Mark: Truer words are seldom spoken. And it’s the slackers who have, indeed, caused this mess, generation after gneration, by throwing up their hands and saying dumb shit like “In the quiet of his conscience each citizen pledges himself, to himself, not to give moral support to an unmoral institution, and on election day he remains at home”
and
“I started my revolution 25 years ago and the country is none the worse for it.â€
The country is no worse than it was 25 years ago? What kind of a moron believes a baldface lie like that?
“One of the dearest myths of democracy is that voting
is among our most precious rights. This myth could easily
be put to the test by making disfranchisement the penalty
for not paying taxes. If the citizen failed to pay taxes,
he would lose the right to vote. Wouldn’t that be fair?
If the vote is so valuable, this should be punishment
enough. No need for prison, fines, threats, and
thumbscrews. On the other hand, if the citizen felt he
wasn’t getting his money’s worth for his taxes, he could
opt out of the system.
Of course the state would never offer this deal,
because 99 per cent of us would grab it in a heartbeat.
Which proves that everyone knows the vote is utterly
worthless, including the state, which couldn’t survive
without captive taxpayers. We will see voting made
compulsory before we see taxes made optional.
As the old saying has it, “If voting could change
anything, it would be illegal.” It already is. Opting out
of the system would be the most meaningful “vote”
imaginable, sending our rulers a real message; so,
naturally, it’s illegal. Low voter turnout doesn’t bother
them at all; low taxpayer turnout would be another
matter.”

Keep copy/pasting the wisdom of fools, Libs. it gives them credence for the stupid ideas they have which will serve to kill or enslave you.
No matter how many times you repeat a stupid thing, it won’t make it smart.
Zombies don’t operate core drills nor bulldozers.
“Zombies don’t operate core drills nor bulldozers. ”
You never saw an Illinois Construction site, didja?
All you guys prattling on about democracy must have forgot that this is a republic.
Still, we need to get out and vote. When that fails, then we fall back on the unintended shit.
I can operate a bulldozer, and a back hoe too.
Amazing what you can do with a backhoe. Better yet one of the excavators.
You never saw an Illinois Construction site, didja?
I probably have, but I didn’t pay close enough attention. I should have figured that Illinois would be their native habitat.
Still, we need to get out and vote.
I so want this tshirt:
http://bullstuff.blogspot.com/2008/02/thats-better.html
Unless one is prepared to live a feral existence, as exampled by a few Japanese soldiers in the South Pacific following WWII, the idea of surviving the zombie apocolypse in a stationary location is folly.
“Ed Hering
…actually I may cast my vote for whoever the Libertarians put forward, just on general principles–so I might not withhold my vote in the Presidential election after all; I simply won’t vote for Romney.”
If Obambi gets a second term, we are looking at the very real possibility that he will be responsibly for the placement of 5 SCJotUS…….
Ruth Joan “Nappy” Bader Ginsburg, retires or kacks-it and we get SCJ Holder….
Stephen Gerald Breyer does the same and we get SCJ Alan “Ambulance Chaser” Grayson
Not to mention there is nearly a 50-50 chance that one of the conservative justices kicks the bucket in the next 5 years……
I’ll vote republican no matter who they put in the seat, fvck I’ll vote for Laup Nor if he gets the nod…….
And you want the most accurate sign that Odumbo’s internal polling is going south, when the “R’s” pick their figurehead, look for Nappy Ginsburg to Retire……. the next day.
Thomas F: That’s the most disturbing thing I’ve read today…
Thomas F- replacing a Ginsburg with a Ginsburg and a Breyer with a Breyer doesn’t really worry me. I don’t think Romney will have anybody better.
The problem with voting is that I don’t think its going to solve anything. They all have bad ideas except Paul, and everybody just calls him crazy because he has ideas that aren’t like everybody else’s (that have worked so well).
For me, I’ll just keep trying to educate the best I can.
It is amazing to see how easily distracted by shiny moral issues the right is, isn’t it?
I’ll make the assumption this was made in jest, since we know there are some people still interested in what kind of country we’ll pass on, and not just whether they have a nicer car or house than the neighbors. They’ll vote, or not. They’re in the GOP, or they hate politics. But still, they’d like to pass on a bit of decency, and want to think there’s a chance we can still have a somewhat moral culture at the end of this mess, and not some sewer. No one is perfect, and we all fail, but there’s a difference between the social conservatives who usually fall and get branded hypocrites (and try to right the course no matter how much the ship tacks left and right), and the left who can’t because if you have no standards, there’s nothing to be a hypocrite about, and if you call all wrong right, you’re ok no matter what you do.
The almighty dollar is important, but shocker, there are people who think there are other things important, too, and it’s not all about the money. Like Pelosi complained when she found out that some Catholics have this pesky “conscience thing” and follow this silly Jesus guy, instead of being amoral sociopaths fresh from the movie American Psycho.
Amazing, how when the right stands up for social issues, they’re accused of making a minor point more important than “real” issues, but when Obama put his health care bill totally on the line for abortion, and risks losing re-election over the HHS mandate, the left isn’t doing the very same thing.
Matt B, “replacing a Ginsburg with a Ginsburg and a Breyer with a Breyer doesn’t really worry me. I don’t think Romney will have anybody better.”
Really you are AOK, with Obama appointing 4 or god forbid 5 SCJs…..
Because I’m not, I pray for the health and arrogance of R-B-“Nappy”-G and A-B, every single night….
Horseshit, horseshit, horseshit……
With Obama appointing their replacements we will be dealing with the very real likelihood, of the stench of at least 4 Obama appointed justices, for possibly the next 30 years….
Let that sink in 30 years
30 fucking years….
My Grand-kids will be born under the shithole that Obama has turned the SCotUS into….
it is infinitely worse….
With Mittens at there is a greater chance that we will get a couple of jurists instead of a gaggle of social engineers….
“They all have bad ideas except Paul…..”
And I think that I have bumped into you before, and I’ll ask you this…..
If Ron Paul does not get the Republican nod for president, jumps ship and runs third party will you follow him?
I sure a fuck won’t…..
““Zombies don’t operate core drills nor bulldozers. â€
You never saw an Illinois Construction site, didja?”
Zombies actually have a driven purpose in life… undeath… whatever…
That said, if six zombies are decked out in IDOT vests, two will be eating brains while the other four are leaning on shovels watching them.
When you are having trouble deciding which is the lessor of two evils, just remember that you can’t go wrong voting out the incumbent.
And we all know that you must always choose the lesser of two weevils.
Er, evils.
My bad.
Hey Libs: You are aware that Sobran was a rabid anti-Semite, yes?
Kind of puts anything he writes in perspective for me. Which is why I’ve ignored him for years, and did not mourn his passing.
Rabid being the operative term.
“I’ll make the assumption this was made in jest,”
not even a little. A politician at the presidential level has about as much business involving himself in moral issues as a priest has in running our countrie’s foreign relations. it’s just not their job, and the problem is, they keep flocking to those issues like moths to flames, though they can’t do a thing about them.
Thomas F- I highly doubt it will be 4 or 5 at the same time. It rarely works like that.
And even if it is, honestly its a bad tradeoff. Romney can do just as much- or even more because he’s a Republican and they can get away with more (see Bush, GW)- as Obama. Think of all the health care changes Romney could get away with. I really don’t think its worth it. Sure we’ll have a decent SC- but they aren’t going to do anything as revolutionary as start declaring tons of government laws unconstitutional. And while that’s going on, the rest of our system is going to junk. Enjoy a decent SC while you’re paying out the wazoo for medical care.
And if Ron Paul jumps- you’re damn right I’m jumping with him. If the remaining candidates were more Ron Paul like (but not exactly like him), maybe not. But I’m left with Romney or Santorum- who pretty are just as bad as Obama, just in different ways.
And remember, in surveys, Paul beats Obama. Romney doesn’t.
“Romney can do just as much- or even more because he’s a Republican and they can get away with more (see Bush, GW)- as Obama”
Which is further proof that you did not read the post.
BTW: if Ron Paul was all that, he’d already be leading. He’s not. All your fantasies about him are, well, fantasies.
Matt B – “I highly doubt it will be 4 or 5 at the same time. It rarely works like that…”
I’m done playing nice, Fuck all you Ron-tards, fuck you and Grandpa Tourettes, and if that chicken necked, anti-Semitic, opportunistic, fucker jumps ship, fuck you, fuck him, fuck his up and coming son the senator sideways.
You myopic knob gobblers are easily the biggest bunch of dumbasses to ever walk the planet…
Obama has already seated two justices you more-RON, two justices that RETIRED exactly one year apart, not died RE-TIRED!!!!!
And you think that it can’t happen twice more in an Obama second term…
“Enjoy a decent SC while you’re paying out the wazoo for medical care.”
Really numb-nuts, how different do you think that the questioning would have gone if Obama had replaced Anthony Kennedy…
Domestically speaking…I can agree with much of what Dr. Paul has said. It’s his foreign policy, and whiffs of anti-semitism, which cause him to go in the circular file. oval office-wise.
If this was 1932 instead of 2012, perhaps the foreign policy concerns (and military deployment concerns) would not be as big an issue. After all, we had two big ponds, on either side of the country, acting as natural buffers against the rest of the world. Today that is nothing more than wishful thinking.
Thomas: i understand and appreciate your frustration. Do please continue to shed more light, where you can, and less heat.
Sorry Og, I know,
And even a RP supporter has to see that a candidate that has so far only pulled 950,000 votes in the republican primaries to date, is never going to pull more than 3-5 million in the general… and yet the wise and magnificent Matt B is all, “Herp-a-derp!!!”, Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!!”
So here I’ll make nice,
“Herp-a-derp!!!”, Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!! Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!!”, Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!! Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!!”, Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!! Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!!”, Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!! Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!!”, Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!! Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!!”, Ron Paul, “Herp-a-derp!!! RON PAUL!!!!!
giggle.
The one issue that no one can overcome is the absolute failure of the voting system now.
Your vote is cancelled out and replaced with the dozens of fraudulent votes that will never be investigated nor removed.
But this says it well, too…parasites must not get to vote.
“The America of my time line is a laboratory example of what can happen to democracies, what has eventually happened to all perfect democracies throughout all histories. A perfect democracy, a ‘warm body’ democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction. It depends solely on the wisdom and self-restraint of citizens… which is opposed by the folly and lack of self-restraint of other citizens. What is supposed to happen in a democracy is that each sovereign citizen will always vote in the public interest for the safety and welfare of all. But what does happen is that he votes his own self-interest as he sees it… which for the majority translates as ‘Bread and Circuses.’
‘Bread and Circuses’ is the cancer of democracy, the fatal disease for which there is no cure. Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader—the barbarians enter Rome.â€
― Robert A. Heinlein
“the fatal disease for which there is no cure.”
because someone said that, you automatically assume it’s true, and so throw up your hands and dsay “nothing can be done”. They said a lot of the same things about onerous gun laws, too, and look what happened there. They said that when the germans bombed pearl harbor, as well.
