Suck-Squeeze-Bang-Blow
Sometimes I think four cycle therapy is as good for me as percussive therapy; though summer is ages away, the First Mow took place today, and damn, did it feel good.
Now, I had to move the little flags the utility company put in the yard, scuttle has it they’re doing some work on the gas lines. But some of the grass was getting to be a foot tall; I may even have to mow it agin in Monday just to keep it where it needs to be. And you can see their spray lines in the cut grass, still, so I will put their flags back in.
I will resist the temptation, as someone who knows me all to well suggested, to scramble the flags. Lord knows it is my nature, but these guys are just trying to do their jobs, and I’m not anxious to make it harder for them.
Not too anxious, anyway.
Anyway, the bottomline is, I mowed, and though I spent a good part of the day on my feet, I feel pretty good. I think it’s a combination of decent shoes, Dr Scholls custom arch supports, and a healthy dose of Vitamin I this morning. We’ll see how I fare tomorrow. Maybe I just needed that Briggs and Stratton Vibro massage on my knee to align things again.

Briggs and Stratton Baby! Effing Honda anyway. That’s why I have 4 or 5 Hondas. :-O
Just read the title again. I get it.
Late, but I get it.
I mowed thirty acres of hay fields myself. The smell of the fresh cut grass mixed with the smell of the spring weeds and the wild onions was like coming home again.
The red-tailed hawk circling above waiting on an easy Happy Meal was the icing on the cake.
Fired up my Honda HR-214 for it’s inaugural run over my 4,500 square-foot lawn today. It was it’s inaugural run for it’s 30th straight year, without a rebuild or new engine, only PM to keep it going. It’s only on it’s second starting battery, and second wheel-drive clutch, too. It bags with it’s original rear-bag.
Now THAT’s a lawn mower!!!
Honda? it’s hardly broken in yet. 30 years- pah! My Power King has been mowing between 1 and 6 acres summers since 1964. it would still have the original engine, too, had some idiot not borrowed it and run it for ten hours without the air filter and fucked up the cylinder. (I still have that engine, I may well rebore and rering it and put it back in)
The honda engines are very nice. I wish they’d make a little diesel.
