Freakish thing. I’d rather not know the details of how my snot locker is wired.

It’s like waterboarding yourself.
Warnings are out that if you do this with contaminated water, you can cause more harm than good. (DUH! Who puts contaminated water up their nose?)

Used right, they do a great job of clearing things out and letting you breathe through the nose. I’ve taken to using distilled water, tho.

I tried one a couple times, could never get it to flow like it’s supposed to (in one nostril and out the other), always wanted to go down my throat. I find the little squeeze bottles of saline solution work great for allergies though, squirt some up my nose, then blow, repeat on other side, and clear as a bell. Being that it’s just salty water, I can use it as often as I need to as well.
It is a miracle cure. Used to get sinus infections at least once a year. Tried it out of desperation maybe a dozen years ago. No more sinus infections. Updated to the newer Nasal Wash bottle i.e. NeilMed bottle. Add Alcolol to the mix anytime the sinuses feel irritated. Highly recommended.
My wife had chronic sinus problems, including sinus surgery and used a sinus rinse for years. It was recommended by her surgeon, She also ended up with a chronic Pseudomonas infection that defied antibiotics but finally went away when she quit using the sinus rinse. The Infectious disease specialist said “You’re rinsing your nose with what?!” The tap water was reinfecting her every day.
Moral is use sterile water only and sterilize the pot or irrigator religiously.

Tried the pot, helped but couldn’t hang. Pneumovac (around age 40) fixed the recurrant sinus infections and bronchitis with less hassel. Like a little miracle.

When my brother and I were kids, Mom kept taking us to the local ENT who thought that vacuum aspiration of the sinuses was the Universal Fix. It’s every bit as pleasant as it sounds.
I’m going to find that man’s grave and take a dump on it one of these days.
Tried it.
Once.

Be careful! The brain eating amoeba can get you if you use tap water. Don is right, better use distilled water.
I hate the feeling while it’s working, but I’ve loosened and removed boogers from the rear of my brain with one.
Can’t see using them every day, but in cold and flu season I generally flush out the snot a couple times a week.
You better sterilize it in an autoclave between uses or you can wind up a lot worse-off than with just a little booger-juice in the back locker…

Sorry, it is Alkalol http://www.alkalolcompany.com/
I use the NeilMed every day. Managed to get off the allergy meds completely, as they were screwing with my eyeballs. Long story.
The crap that comes out of my sinuses always manages to both amaze me and gross me out. But at least it’s OUT.
Daughter swears by it when her sinuses are giving her real trouble.
Tried it once when nearly terminally stopped-up; that is a strange feeling
Neilmed Sinus Rinse FTW. The positive pressure of the squeeze bottle helps get the saline solution into all the tight spots.
I’ve had sinus problems for 20+ years, and nasal irrigation has been a great relief. Twice a day, every day, symptoms or not.
