I love a thunderstorm
I love waking up and hearing the rain and the thunder, opening my eyes just enough to see the flash and count for the crack, and drift back off to sleep.
My dog, on the other hand, does not. So I have had to sit up with him again, lest he drown the household in his anxious drool, a puddle of dog slobber outside the bedroom door to slip in barefooted in the AM.
Doesn’t make for a very good day for me, but i do get a lot of reading in. This morning it’s The Wee Free Men, fairly appropriate based on yesterdays post about sheep.
I’m going to be a bit disapointed when I’ve been all the way through Pratchett, but there have been very few disapointments. “Night watch” was the first one I had to speed through out of boredom, and then it was only twenty or so pages that dragged.

My dog, Bella thinks that thunder and lightning were made for her amusement. She tears around the house like a mad thing during thunder storms, trying to get out and get a mouthful of lightning so she can shake the life out of it. Silly dog. If I let her out, she’ll tear around the yard in the rain until either the storm passes or she exhausts herself. Fun to watch, though. Then she sleeps for ten hours.

My huge brave St Bernard hates thunderstorms as does the poor old Lab-Chow. Last nights storm was a definite bad one for the puppies.
Critters don’t like loud noises much. Makes me wonder what the Deer do in such times.
You might have to let that hound sleep in your bed during der blitzen. Once so ensconced, you can go back to sleep.

Night Watch is one of my favorites. I guess that’s why Baskin Robbins carries so many flavors. :)
Indeed. Oh, I don’t have any complaints about Night Watch, it’s an excellent example of Pratchett’s work, but it does go on a bit in the middle.
To date, my very favorite is still “Reaper Man”. I guess I am most sympathetic to Death because I seem to understand the way he goes about his job. A lot of times in “Reaper man” I had to put the book down (well, Kindle) because I got some stuff in my eyes. Also, to date, the very best moment in all the books is when Gaspode- well, I’ll let him tell it .
