The Economy is doing fine
If by fine you mean “collapsing so that I might finally fulfil my socialist dreams”.
it isn’t like I’m giving secrets to the enemy, but what part of “You can get away with ANY social program if you fund it by letting the economy grow geometrically?” do these whiny bitches not get? I mean a highschooler would be smart enough to say “Look, you big and small businesses, I’m gonna decrease regulations and etc. so you guys can just make cash like you have your own printing presses, the economy will swell, and the piddly amount of taxes you’ll have to pay to give free shit to deadbeats will be like unto nothing”. Everyone would be on board and he’d get everything he wants and be president for life. His issue is clearly not helping people, but punishing the people who have too much.
Well, the people “not him” that is.

“The problem with socialism is socialism, because there are no socialists. Socialism is a system based upon an assumption about human nature that simply isn’t true. I can design a perfect canine community in which dogs never chase squirrels or groom their nether regions in an indelicate manner. But the moment I take that idea from the drawing board to the real world, I will discover that I cannot get dogs to behave against their nature — at least not without inflicting a terrible amount of punishment. Likewise, it’s easy to design a society that rewards each according to his need instead of his ability. The hard part is getting the crooked timber of humanity to yield to your vision.
And that was one of the reasons why the hard socialism of the Soviet Union failed, and it is why the soft socialism of Western Europe is so anemic. At the end of the day it is entirely natural for humans to work the system — any system — for their own betterment, whatever kind of system that may be. That’s why the black market economy of the Soviet Union might have in fact been bigger than the official socialist economy. That is why devoted socialists worked the bureaucracy to get the best homes, get their kids into the best schools, and provide their families with the best food, clothes and amenities they could. Just like people in capitalist countries.
It’s why labor unions demanded exemptions and “carve-outs” for their own health care plans from ObamaCare. And why very rich liberals still try their best to minimize their taxes.”

There are no socialists…. just capitalists who acquire their goodies by other means. The most pernicious of other means….. Power. Instead of providing a good or a service to their fellow man to get what the want, they use the Power of Govt to bust your skull if you don’t hand over the benjamins.
Kinda like the Mob. Or as Murray Rothbard famously said, Government “is a gang of thieves writ large”.
I think that there may also be some number of people who read the backstory in 1984 as a prescription for long term stability. i.e. that production needs to be used up in destructive consumption so that there is no gap between production and consumption. Supply=demand in macro level = stability.
I don’t see where that Idea arose, since there are no examples of it anywhere in history to sho that anyone else thought it was worth giving it a try.
hale” Would that be called “Just in time poverty”? or something like that?
