Nice service.
They had a Bible Baptist preacher do the service, which was very nice. I’ve been to funerals of every denomination, and as a general rule, they tend to at least try to be uplifting and not nasty. Guy couldn’t help himself but to throw in a couple commercials near the end, but all in all, it was a good thing. Only muslims at Christian funerals have any nastiness, and even then, not many of them. You’re more likely to find your aunt Sophie kneeing your cousin Mike in the groin.
Christianity isn’t about what church you belong to, but how good a Christian you are. I know more than a few Atheists who are excellent Christians, at least in their actions. And the world is overflowing with people who call themselves Christians who wouldn’t know one if it jumped up and bit them in the ass.
All in all, it was very pleasing to see a small group of diverse people who came together to honor the passing of a man, and put their individual selves aside and displayed their better angels. It gave me hope for a minute or two that humans aren’t doomed as a race.

I’m glad such a somber situation worked out for the best.
One hopes we are not doomed. Some of us make it through to the end I am sure. Just not sure where or when that is.
Doomed, hardly. Ambrose Bierce said it best. Humans are a pestiferous species destined to infest the whole of the habitable Earth and Canada.
Actually, when I shuffle off this mortal coil, I hope someone throws me a daisy of a party. Folks getting shitfaced, motherless drunk, a few vicious fistfights and some hot, screaming sex in the woods behind the house.

Could I participate in your wake, Gerry?
