Each week
Of the past three I have somehow managed to avoid lawnmowing, and I finally got to it, and some of the trimming around the driveway.
The idea of living in a townhouse sometimes appeals to me.
Eventually, the idea is that I will have a lawn that is all completely mowable from the seat of the tractor, needing no other maintenance of any kind. Time that happens, I suppose, it will be someone else’s pride and joy.

Personally I would love to have acres mowed by cattle or sheep. That would mean I have fewer neighbors.
Not a bad thing in my mind.
My preference is for genetically altered grass that grows naturally at just the right height, so it never needs mowing.
…And is poisonous to grubs, termites and fire ants.
I’m reminded that, several years ago, The New York Times published an article advocating moss lawns.

I have two mowers, one old zero turn 54in front deck and a newer zero turn 60in mid deck. One old Kawasaki mule with a 20 gal tank and pump pushing poison thru a 90in boom for rock driveways and a hand wand for weed eater duty. I despise a string trimmer with all my being. I do have swing blades and bush axes if something gets past the juice. I can also kill the nasty fire ants with the mule/sprayer rig without stomping around amongst the hateful buggers. Better living through chemistry!
Somehow through the Grace of God I acquired a neighbor who enjoys cutting my grass. I gave him my riding mower and he’s happier than a clam at high tide. He built a damn fine fence between our yards, then put in a wide gate. Also the grass here in West. Wash goes all brown if not watered every forty minutes. So after the Spring and early Summer Monsoons the yard appears dead. Good. As soon as the fall drizzles begin after Labor Day the grass and weeds will green up for the winter.
No fire ants, nor even yellowjackets this year. Have yet to get a skeeter bite either. God’s back yard.

When I grow up I want to live in a hotel.
