Everything with a screen
has a diagnostic mode.
Many of the local gas stations have installed TV screens which blab at me as I pump my gas. I do not like this, and can often be found telling the screen to SHUT UP, SHUT UP, WILL YOU PLEASE JUST SUT THE FUCK UP.
Until yesterday.
I know who the manufacturer of the screen is, I’ve used them myself. So knowing that, I also know that pushing the upper right and upper left button put it in diagnostic mode, and make the annoying commercials shut the fuck up.
Try not to get arrested.

That sounds great, but does it also void your transaction?
No. I wish it was that easy. The screen is just a monitor, the controls for the transaction are far more bulletproof. They don’t care if you listen to Shell News, but they want their money.
Yes/No it can dependng on the software. Once the trans is approved the network has your card data and the dispenser will put forth the dollar amount due on the card when finished normally or if it is aborted by a comm. break. It also, depending on what POS is running in the store, put out an info message that the DCR # ?(card reader) is offline. Which if the store has a competent manager will investigate. In my locale it is considered an attempt to modify the reader, such as a possible data sniffer, theft, or vandalism. Majority have cameras installed watching the DCR’s also. So please be careful.
Love it! Thanks!
The things you learn here. My oh my
Why must everything scream at us all day every day? City life doesn’t have to be cranked to eleven. It would be very satisfying to take a baseball bat to the loud speakers on the rail stations where I catch the trains each day.
If only they had a screen.
