We’re upgrading to a different phone service- cheaper, better coverage, and we get new phones. I was offered one of the fives, and turned it down (GASP!!!).
It’s a phone, people. It’s not a religion. And the Android does everything I have ever wanted it to do. I have never had an affinity for Apple products nor for the fanbois who love them, they can all just kiss my ass. I use the tools that suit me, and not one person has ever been able to say there’s a noticeable and meaningful difference between the slickly packaged and marketed shit that Apple passes off to it’s fanbois and the run of the mill windoze or android apps. What I have works for me, the software and apps I want aren’t available for apple, and I won’t replace G-d with Steve Jobs.
Shit, now that Jobs is dead, I give apple about five years anyway.
I did see an Android ad from Verizon last night that ought to be pulled for being misleading. The first thing it talked about was 24-hour battery life, while showing a kid watching streaming video while out camping. Now, I’m sorry, but if you stream video with ANY phone, your battery is going to be flat in a very short time — much less than 24 hours.
And if Verizon could actually manage to get their 4G LTE working in my neighborhood, where I’m lucky to have any bars of cell service at all (can you hear static now?), that would be a plus. Luckily we use wifi here anyway, but I’ve found Verizon’s 4G service to be pretty damn spotty wherever I go, including on the beach in Naples, Florida where you’d think they’d be willing to spend major bucks to keep the glitterati happy.
I got a real nice ballistic calculator on mine. Free. Works pretty good but their math is a little off.
I’ve been meaning to flip this crap-assed Palm since May. Everything I read says: Droid. But I may borrow one of each and drive out to hillbilly country and see which one has the better signal. Danged if I buy land and then realize I just got hosed on coverage. Of course, that means my ongoing feud with Verizon will have to come to an end.
