Ann Barnhardt
has finally begun the slide to the shitstorm. The IRS has attached her personal accounts, and I imagine the rest of her shit will follow.
Love her or hate her, they’re coming for you too, soon enough. When they do, how will you act?

I was wondering who Ann Barnhardt is, until i remembered she used to run a commodities firm until she decided to shut it down publicly after the failure of MF Global.
Has she given any explanation on her blog as to why the IRS is claiming she owes a six figure tax bill? Ann strikes me as the type who would be anal retentive about paying her tax liability as required by law.
Never mind, I see she declared a Tax Strike. I missed it because it didn’t make the blogs I read the same way that her letter about closing her business did. Her tax strike seems unwise to me. I think she could have accomplished more by working with the Tea Party types to change the system.
I am pretty sure she intends for things to go this way. I doubt it’s going to accomplish much.
Is she doing a Wesley Snipes here? Even he went to jail, ultimately.
Wesley just figured his fame would keep him out of stir. Ann intends to get jailed, has from the beginning
I think she could accomplish more by speaking out than by her current course of action.
Yeah, the thing is, it’s what she wants, and she believes that it is what G-d requires of her. That’s fine.
It may even get some media coverage, but even the most devout will say “She didn’t pay her taxes. What did she expect?” That’s because this is not about us, or America, but about her. And she’s free to do that, for her, I’m fine with it. If you want to make war on the .gov, there is almost nothing you can do that will be less effectual, but that is not her choice.
My choice is to do things that are as effectual as possible, as I find them. Tilting at windmills may make ME feel better, but it does absolutely nothing for the greater good. Nobody who does this sort of thing can even pretend to be doing it because it will have any effect, because it will not.
Og, that’s exactly what I was thinking as I read her posts. This is David vs. Goliath, and David’s lost his slingshot. Goliath is simply going to make taxpayer paste out of her, and I question to what end.
A lot of people are martyred and history grows sod over them, and nobody ever knows. Look at the mass graves of jews in the camps. They all did what was right and didn’t resist, or resisted peacefully. Me, I intend to leave a big fucking hole in the ground when they come for me.
Unfortunately, what she’s going is as effective as what Rachel Corrie did by facing down that bulldozer. We didn’t need a St. Pancake on this side to compliment the one on the left. I’m sure she knows how well it worked out for the Posse Comitatus people and Al Capone to blow off the IRS. Even William Ayers and the Weather Underground learned it was better to go about subverting than to bomb the freaking Pentagon.
We don’t know the full extent of her tax or brokerage problems. She may be so shot through with arrows by IRS rulings that her tax strike is simply academic; if you’re in ruination anyway, why not make a party of it.
I belive she is doing this because she believes her tax dollars are supporting .gov in financing abortion, stem cell and such which are abominations in the eyes of G-d for which she has to give an accounting of herself at judgement. It has nothing to do with stiking it to the man.
That’s the whole point, kent. Nowhere did anyone suggest she was
‘Stiking'(sic)’it to the man’.
