I got my new Capps Shoes Commanders. I love them now as much as I loved them then, and I am actually quite upset when I have to take them off and put on boots, even my good Danner boots. These shoes are insanely comfortable for my feet. I have a good deal of rollout when I walk and the shape of these prevents that or at least ameliorates it. I will be buying another pair on the 1 year anniversary. I may even see if I can have a pair custom made with a stiffer vamp.
I hadn’t in a while, so I shined them up tonight, they still take a shine nicely and look presentable. If I was going to be in a wedding or doing a lot more funerals I’d get a pair of the patent leather ones.

Interesting, looking around at what they offer. I’ve been looking for something called a Brogue Boot (it’s a dress shoe with brogue detailing that goes ankle high, kind of big in Britain but rare here, for the slushy Chicago area winters) and whatever I found has been cheap China crap panned for including stinky, carcinogen leaching pvc type inserts in the reviews, or insanely expensive $400 stuff. They have a Trooper chukka boot which, except for the plainness, is pretty much what I was looking for, and American made at a fair price, and they make wide shoes. I like the isea of the removable (I assume washable, too) bootie insert.
I need a good arch support. How are these shoes in that regard?
MTS:I bought Dr Scholls inserts at that kiosk at WalMart. They have been lifesavers. Best $45 I ever spent. Also: Not “booties” but insoles. they aren’t washable but are replaceable. I replaced mine with the Scholls inserts.
Hey Og,
Couldn’t find an email for you. Have an addition for made in America.
Just got an Edge Pro knife sharpening system. It is made in Oregon. I have freehand sharpened for years but my hands can’t handle it anymore. I have sharpened everything in the house. I can guarantee by spring I will be the only one with smooth shaved legs living here.

So it has been written. So it shall be done.
Hey Roger, I met the guy who makes Edge Pro at a trade show in February. Solid citizen. His product is the most dummy-proof sharpening system I’ve seen, and I’ve tried a lot of them.
On the “brogue” shoes. Those are Brogans, a heavy work shoe of bygone days. The military issued them decades ago, but now issues only high-top boots for those troops who used to get the Brogans. A Work Chukka is probably what you want now.
