Lessons from a sleazy bar
To the drunk who was asking the lesbian couple in the bar “Which one of you is the man?”
Neither one. That would be the point.

Yebbut… there are tops and bottoms. And it seems for the most part that the roles are chosen from natural inclination.
As to which is a “masculine” and which a “feminine” principle, (read: “butch” and “femme”) is an open question.

I grok that; I’m just saying the guy in this instance was WAY out of line.
Og, What a hoot. Wish I’d thought of this one!
Maureen’s recent Sunday Times Magazine comes to mind. She complained that men like to marry down instead of marry powerful smart women like herself. I thought, first, both sides voluntarily marry so women like to marry up as well as men marry down, and second, every relationship I know of that works, including gay relationships have one person taking a more supporting role and the other taking a more “traditional male” role. Even when neither is male or both are male. So maybe her ideal two type A uberachievers who act equally towards each other is a dream.
