So I take the model number off my chainsaw
And I go to Sears and order a new piston ring
And the piston ring arrives, and it’s for a 42mm piston, and not a 36mm one.
The model and part number are right, just not the piston and ring. Thanks sears!
At least they refunded my money. So now I have to go find a ring. Dumbasses. And I still have no chainsaw.

Sears chainsaws are made by Poulan. There are Poulan dealers everywhere.
Good luck.

And poulan is owned by husqvarna who also make redmax and most of the parts interchange.
Call Baileys and see if they have an equivalent part. I’ve had good luck with them in the past.
Baileysonline.com Sorry about that.
Thanks!
And now I know something I didn’t know five minutes ago.
I love the internets.
It’s useless to go to Sears anymore. Unlike the Good Old Days, they won’t have it in stock, they can’t order it for the next truck and call you when it comes, it has to be shipped to your house at your cost. You may as well use the Sears website and order the part you need. At least you’ll know if you’re ordering the ring with the right dimension.
Last year I was stupid enough to take the piston cover off of my weed whacker, and broke the o-ring gasket. I looked into getting a new one; I’d have to get either a whole cover and o-ring combo, or a gasket kit including carb stuff. Can’t get a sole o-ring. So I take it to the hardware store, go to the plumbing section, and get the perfectly matching o-ring for 65 cents.
Had something similar to that with my dirt bike. Could have ordered the fuel petcock O-ring from a motorcycle parts site for $2 and shipping, but found the exact replacement in my $5 Harbor Freight box of O-rings. Heh.
