New broom
Our shooting club has had some issues with it’s leadership for several years now, and this has recently become an issue front and center with our membership. The concern has been that there needs to be more transparency, and this has motivated a large number of members to become involved, for the first time in a long time.
So last night we had our annual election. I was heartened by the amount of our membership that showed- the vote tally was on the order of 45% of the membership.
I was enlisted by one of the officers to assist in tallying the vote, and it was a sweep- the new list of officers were elected by an overwhelming margin, and they officially take office on the first of April.
may G-d have mercy on our souls. This is the first time I have ever become involved in any politicking of any kind and it is not to my liking at all. I like and respect all of these guys and to have had to take sides against them has not been enjoyable. But now we have this, and we have to do something with it.

Well, it’s a Good Thing that you HATE the Politikin’.
It’s been my Experience that those who LOVE it tend to be the ones who screw it up for the rest of us.
Just look at Washington, DC.
I’ve been there before. Seems a lot of shooting enthusiasts are also headstrong people by nature and it takes a strong willed person(s) to make change in that group. I did my time in it and got out without making permanent enemies of everyone involved. I did find that if a member works very hard on the little things that have to be done the older members will at least listen to that person when the big things come up. Good luck.
