I like lent
because everyone puts all their fish & stuff on sale. Just bought a bunch of Surimi at Target for about 1/3 market price.

I like lint, it makes good tinder.
The fish prices are great. The only downside is the lunchroom at work on Fridays. None of the windows open and it gets a litle fishy in there.
Yeah…nothing quite like the smell of microwaved fish, it’s even worse than burnt popcorn.
Of course, we can also blame Lent for the new Fish McNugget’s McDonalds came out with.
The local supermarkets around here have true and ling cod at giveaway prices, same with Dover sole. I got ten pounds of each and froze most of it. Baked sole, it’s not just for breakfast anymore. Farm raised Atlantic Salmon is cheap too. I got enough of that to pickle three gallons of it. Pickled salmon with Maya onions, capers and strips of red bell pepper. And one jar for me with a few added dried kung pao chiles for a little heat. Just enough to frost the inside of the jar. YUM!!

Government labs have reported that most people can’t tell one kind of fish from another. Fish basically only comes in three flavors (tuna, salmon, and cod). many fisherman can’t tell the difference. many retailers can’t tell the difference and it takes a genetic test to tell the difference once the fish has been skinned.
Sushi restaraunts are 70% likely to sell the rong fish (mislabeled). other restaraunts are only 40% likely to mislabel fish. Supermarkets are only 25% likely to mislabel.
When I read this, the only thing I was really curious about was why the US Govt hired people to send fish samples to labs for genetic testing just to confirm if they were properly labeled, not to see if they were tainted or poisoned.
