The Troll finally gets with the program
Instead of doing a dull, functional blog like everyone else, Mark Alger and Baby Troll have a pretty “internet magazine’ which, until now, has had no trackbacks. Now you can ping the folks at BTB, which should solidly push them over the edge into “large mammal” territory as they so richly deserve. Of course, having tested it, it doesn’t WORK. Sorry, Doll.

Mefinks me’s spotted the fly in da ointmink. To-date we’ve only had comments on the front page. But links go to the archives — the permanent location of the posts.
I can change the code for the archive pages. Just have to figure out how to set it for a specific time so I don”t have to manually go back and weed out old ones. I’ll get it later today.
Thanks, sweetie. You’ve been a big help.

But there’s another thing, mon… The trackback link is incorrect. We’re Powered By Halo Scan, doncha know, and the trackback link is got by clicking the link and c’n’p-in’ from the popup winder.

So it appears I need to add a “Trackback Link” thing to the post-comment that feeds back the URL to HaloScan, instead of the link to the post.
Or, I could really get busy and figure out how to do them standalone.
If only Alger weren’t too cheap to spring for the pMachines thing. Every time I axe ‘im, he gives me th’ poor mouth — already spent blah-blah on City Desk, ain’t throwing good money after bad.
But he doesn’t have to wear his pretty fingers t’ th’ bone workin’ this stuff out.
Bastard!

donask me. I’s a luddite; if I can’t click and go I’m confuisticated.
Still:it’s the links back to your site that count on TTLB. Thus the links I put on my site to yours.
True enough (and we’re reconstructive surgery-ing even as we post here), but there’s another point to the trackback than link-whoring, and that’s to permit me ‘n’ Alger t’ know ASA F-in’ P when somebody links to a story — if they use the trackback. (And it behooves li’l ol’ me t’ make that ‘s easy ‘s possible, so I’m workin’ that angle.)
I just wish that outgoing trackback pings could be automated. It should admit to scripting within the blogging application. I know I could do it in City Desk if there was that one thing still lacking — the code to actually perform the Ping operation (and to do it once and only once, so’s to eliminate multiple posts on the ping-ee’s site). I already have a script ready to do the rest — to grab the relevant data and pass it to…
to…
And I’m on the top-step-that-isn’t-there.
