Curious coincidence: two days ago I watched a History Channel (You Tube) presentation on the RAF attack by Avro Vulcan bomber on the Argies holing the airport @ Port Stanley during the Falklands War. That bombing mission led directly to the Brit victory, since the cratered runway could no longer support resupply operations for the Argie Army.
While the film was mostly a reprise of the military operation, it did feature Maggie as well, since she made the key decisions.
“For those waiting with bated breath for that favorite media catch-phrase ‘the u-turn,’ I have only one thing to say: you turn if you want to; the lady’s not for turning.”
The only lay woman I ever thought could hold her own with our old school nuns in a cast iron constitution contest. This is her most famous line, but you must someday see videos of her performance in Parliament during Questions for the Prime minister. Democrats from Obama on down cry on how uncivilized the debate has become in political speech; they would wet their pants if That One and Boehner sat in Congress across from each other and took turns quizzing each other in this manner. Heck, most of the Republicans couldn’t hold their own either. The Brits make Congress look as tame as a Christian Science Reading Room.
When you watch this video, notice the green space in the center, bordered by red lines on each side. The distance between the lines equals the length of an outstretched arm holding a sword of the time. So Parliament was far more raucous, and more deadly, than in recent times.

That lady had more common sense than all of her male counterparts combined.
I bet she and Ronald are talking up a storm in Heaven.

That it is.
And Annette went too.
One was cute, the other strong. Both good ladies to admire.

Her best smackdown ever: “This is no time to go wobbly, George.”
