Well, that was new.
I had my optometrist drop off a car to get new brakes and I did them last night.
I’m on blood thinners so my normal slice and dice is out of the question; I wore gloves and let the tools do most of the work, and ended up the evening not bleeding from any new orifices. For maybe the first time in my life. It was a little irritating, having to be extra cautious-frankly, I usually just try to see to it that i don’t lose a digit.
Starting to feel like a damned wimp. I once had sex while I had an actively bleeding headwound; now I’m wrenching like I’m fragile.

Damn it, I read that last bit as “wenching like I’m fragile.”
Guess that shows where my mind is this morning.
A little blood makes the repair right. A lot of blood makes the tools slick.
It is tough to something and not make an ouiee.
“I once had sex while I had an actively bleeding headwound”
Dang! You should be more attentive to your women so they don’t have to blast you upside the head with a pipe to get a little from you.
I’ve tried doing automotive work while wearing gloves…
Ended up just ripping the gloves on the car (and hating trying to use them).
On the other hand, I’m not sure I’ve ever injured myself – even just a scratch – while doing brakes.
Sigi: you’re obviously not working on the cars I’m working on.
Head wound sex… It’s the BEST!
I punched the lugs on a 76 Ford just last year doing rear drum brakes. Took a divot out of my finger just like it used to. Still had my electrical tape in the tool box for plumbing leaks.
I can’t imagine doing it while on thinners. That can’t be good. Steer clear of swarf and make sure your have chip breakers on your tooling!!!!
Yeah, it sucks, but better than bleeding out on the garage floor… Just sayin…
You’re not a wimp, you’re getting old; and gettin’ old ain’t fer wimps!
I wear gloves for anything that is potentially damaging to my skin. I consider gloves to be one of the best tools in my tool box. I just have difficulty finding gloves that fit since most companies only sell large and XL sizes.
