Here’s something you need to read
because it is as true as true can be. Money quote:
“We have lost the ability to be disgusted and offended by evil…†Rabbi Shmuley Boteach
Liz puts the smackdown on our jaded nature. We’ve been taught to turn a blind eye, to not take offense. Fuck that.
Elsewhere, Ed Hering has a similar lament:
“That’s right! Along with no longer shaming women who get pregnant out of wedlock, we now don’t expect men who get those women pregnant to take any responsibility for it! After all, those women can get abortions or welfare! It’s a party! Whee!”
WHat happened to morals? What happened to standards? What happened to people actually knowing what was right?
There’s a scene in “I walk the line” where Reese Witherspoon is confronted by the manager of a dime store.
Five and Dime Manager: Divorce is an abomination. Marriage is for life.
June Carter: I’m sorry I let you down, ma’am.
Today we’d say the woman was being judgemental. Well, she was. Why is it a bad thing to call it as you see it? And June Carter was suitably humbled and upset.
I was taught to hate the sin and love the sinner. I can vouch for the fact that few people can out sin me, if I could play a guitar I’d be the best damned blues singer around. So while I won’t ever point at someone’s sins and claim to be better than they are, I will damned sure point at their sins and say “That’s wrong”. I won’t ever not help someone find redemption for their sins, but I will damned sure tell them they should seek it.
Right now, the biggest sin is to not be able to distinguish right from wrong, and call it when you see it. Pretending that “What those people are doing is none of my business” is how we get where we are.

That is called something….let me think….oh yeah, isn’t something tolerance?
We taken it to such and extreme that now nothing is “wrong”. Of course when nothing is wrong, there can be no right.
Such is the deadly spiral we are on.
I’m with you Og. Condemn the sin but allow the sinner to go and sin no more.
Key element being sin no more.
… we now don’t expect men who get those women pregnant to take any responsibility for it!
Unless they have money. Then they get to take financial responsibility for the Woman’s “choice”.
That’s for sure. It’s their business unless they want you on the hook for 18+ years. Then you better pay up.
The Statists are passing laws all over the Western nations making it a crime to state true history, let alone tell someone your opinion.
You are definitely not allowed, in God’s name or any other way, to tell someone they’ve made a poor choice lest you hurt their feelings.
Only by standing alongside one another do you have a chance to fight back against the downward spiral. Like you were taught at a young age, take a buddy with you when you wade out into those hostile waters. And then 3 of you. Form blocs. We all are going to need backup to bring an end to Political Cowering. That’s the best description I can give what has become the widespread fear to tell some poor soul they are making a mistake.
“… we now don’t expect men who get those women pregnant to take any responsibility for it!
Unless they have money. Then they get to take financial responsibility for the Woman’s “choiceâ€.
That nasty woman! She obviously tricked that man with her honey pot, the man and his penis are innocent and bear no culpability in this situation whatsoever.
Owie, my eyes just rolled so hard they hurt.
It’s all right to shame women … who calls out baby daddies? Not you.
They made a mess together and both bear responsibility. (Emphasis on the bear.) Baby daddies do get nicked a big (mostly by government agencies trying to recoup) but if they’re not going to pay for their bastard offspring, everyone else does. Would you rather these children — who are here through no fault of their own — have no care or sustenance at all?
Got better ideas? Grandparents raising children? (See lots of that already.) Orphanages and foster homes are overflowing with these unwanted and mostly unloved children. (And later, juvenile detention centers, jails, prisons.) What do you want to do about it besides cop an attitude?
Jenny
Oh, and often those bastard children are bullied at school. Sins of the father and all that. That’s okay too, I guess, shame ’em!
Jenny
What did you miss Jenny? This whole point is that the human race, both sexes, are on the downward spiral. Men who didn’t own up to their responsibilities received shame too. Those who are tied to the old moral codes did not do it because they were better than the sinner, but because it had to be addressed as not something that was good for society. OTOH, in this postmodern world where our many of our rulers actually hate the commoners (just like many in the older system of monarchs and aristocrats), they are delighted we are delighted with the destruction of American society. So much easier if each sex is alienated from the other. I don’t know how much feminist rhetoric affected your comment, but just remember the same postmodern version of feminists somehow have nothing to say about the poor condition of women under, say Sharia, or in China should she dare bear a 2nd child.
Those who were legitimately influence by the old moral codes did not use shame because… [key word legitimate]
…they are delighted we are participating in the destruction of American society.
Yep. I sure am all about shaming people, you can read it all over what I wrote.
Try again.
Please do reread where I wrote “I was taught to hate the sin and love the sinner.”
Consequence free behavior- On the part of MEN AND WOMEN of ALL SEVEN SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS is why we are in the shit we’re in. NOT ONE PERSON EVER SUGGESTED WE SHOULD SHAME ANYONE.
Except you, Jenny. You accuse me of something you specifically know I am incapable of.
We all fuckup. I am the KING of fuckups. As such, I know a fuckup when I see one, and I can call them like few other people can.
maybe if we stopped coddling fuckups and rewarding them for fucking up, we’d have- I dunno, fewer fuckups?
Shot gun weddings. Need to be reinstated.
They’re trying to outlaw shotguns.
It is said, and it is very true, that the moment when vice becomes the custom marks the death of a republic, for the dissolute person ceases to be considered loathsome, and all baseness becomes normal. – – Arturo Perez-Reverte.
My priest has made the point in several homilies that the original sin of Adam and Eve is that they thought they should decide what was good and evil, right and wrong. We have continued that into the present age. It’s not up to God, it’s up to us; with the attendant consequences. (I think I’m quoting him correctly, that’s the gist of it.)
As my wife has pointed out, if you don’t want to have kids; don’t have sex. Actions have consequences, take responsibility for your actions and bear the consequences like an adult.
lol Ed.
