Doma overturned.
In my opinion the FedGov ought not to be in the Marriage business anyway, and if they are in any relationship business at all, it ought to be in the “Legal partner” business which should apply equally to everyone.
But the telling thing is that no less august a person as Antonin Scalia is CRAZY! HE”S NUTS! POOF HIS ARGUMENT IS INVALID!
“This case is about…the power of our people to govern themselves, and the power of this Court to pronounce the law. Today’s opinion aggrandizes the latter, with the predictable consequence of diminishing the former. We have no power to decide this case. And even if we did, we have no power under the Constitution to invalidate this democratically adopted legislation. . . .
Declaring the compatibility of state or federal laws with the Constitution is not only not the “primary role†of this Court, it is not a separate, freestanding role at all. . . .
But to defend traditional marriage is not to condemn, demean, or humiliate those who would prefer other arrangements, any more than to defend the Constitution of the United States is to condemn, demean, or humiliate other constitutions. To hurl such accusations so casually demeans this institution. . . . .
By formally declaring anyone opposed to same-sex marriage an enemy of human decency, the majority arms well every challenger to a state law restricting marriage to its traditional definition. . .
yep. He’s just KRazy! he’ll be selling fireworks on route 30 next.
I’d quote Kennedys comments but I won’t have that filth on my blog.
If you still suffer from the delusion that there is not an overt intent to damage structured religions, then there’s something I need for you to do. Get a 3×5 index card, and on one side, write or print “breathe in” (over), then on the other side write or print “Breathe out” (over). Keep this card with you, you’re probably going to need it. If you feel lightheaded, just look at the card.
meh. There’s no way Gays or anyone like that could ever be organized enough to do the damage I insanely fear.
Just ask the Boy Scouts.

I’m not going to get into this except to ask why it was within their power to invalidate “democratically adopted legislation” on Tuesday but not so on Wednesday. Did the Voting Rights Act come free in a box of cornflakes or something?
For the ways that are dark and for tricks that are vain, the heathen chinee has nothing on the Supremes.

Both DOMA and VOA where bad laws when they where adopted, vis a vie the constitution, but met some felt anguish on the part of the “public”. Even when enacted they where felt to have a short shelf life before the courts would strike them down.
What we have been attacked on from the left is what they fear about themselves. They are projecting. So when HillBill complain about a vast right wing conspiracy they are saying more about themselves than the opponents.
By corrupting a small segment of society(college professors) the left has managed to taint a large portion of the populace.
And when I say Left, I mean the communist/socialist/fascist/nihilist group that is running the show.
I do not see any way we will be able to ignore the disruptions much longer.
The Spremes exist for the purpose of validating or invalidating democratically adopted legislation based on it’s constitutionality. That’s what they’re there for.
Yep. And, amazingly enough, they actually did it.
“,i>If you still suffer from the delusion that there is not an overt intent to damage structured religions…”
I just got back from my Wednesday Night Dinner on the Grounds and Destroy The Church Supper. Wait’ll you hear what we planned for y’all next over the potato salad.
It’ll take too long to ask the Boy Scouts. They just got on the path to ruin. Ask the Girl Scouts, who’ve been on it for nearly 20 years now:

Damn. I had come down firmly in the “Tam: not gay” camp.
Nah, just a Commie.
Yep. And I’m Sasquatch.
Shut up. Just because I’m a little hairy and smelly.
No, I am not sasquatch. Put that camera away.
I can attest that Og ain’t Sasquatch.
No, not even close. See, Og lives in the land of Ice and Snow, the Frozen North.
Og, is a Yeti.
It is an important distinction.

lol. Good to see you boss.
MTS: The girl scouts, the boy scouts, the military, the legislature, the educational system, businesses like Chick-Fil-A… Nope, Nothing to see here. No way less than 5% of the population of the country could modify the fabric of our society in it’s own image. Nothing to see here.
We all have come to expect projection from the radical Left.
And you all know my analysis long ago concluded that not just radicals, but the whole progressive movement is in line with quite radical Malthusianism.
Well. Get THIS Projection, and from usually staid progressive supreme court justices no less.
In writing their majority opinion, Justice Kennedy had the brazenness to declare all who disagreed with it “Enemies of the human race.”
By their projections you will know them.
“It is one thing for a society to elect change; it is another for a court of law to impose change by adjudging those who oppose it hostes humani generis, enemies of the human race.” — Scalia [emphasis mine]
Although “enemy of human decency” is a pretty bad charge, this is far worse.
(Oversights happen Og. No biggee. Just had to tell you that had you included this above, then your prediction would have been dead right about my immediate reaction. LOL)
Lol. Thats what youre here for pascal.
Well, in that case, I’m here to ask:
Will Og update his thread starter with it the most provocative lines?
-Or-
Will they remain buried in his comments?
:D
Buried?
Yes buried.
Typically search engines fail to find key phrases when they are buried in comments.
You lose out adding to the multiplying effect of the discussion over that statement when key aspects are identified only in comments.
Have you ever noticed how my blog only shows one days worth of posts?
Yes. And each word in those is detectable by search engines. Not so those buried in the comments.
Well, then do it on your blog. This one is mine, and I run it the way I want.
