I fully expect
that when I arrive at my “Reward’ so to speak, they will hand me a toolbox.
When I open the toolbox, if it’s well stocked and neatly organized, I will have landed in one spot. if it contains a hammer, a prydriver, and a roll of duct tape, I will have arrived in another. And if it’s the latter it will already be something I’m used to.
I think it was Dante’s Inferno that posited that one level of hell was a continuation of this life into the afterlife.
I know when I awake from dreams where I do what I do at work I am less than rested. Cranky to boot.
If duct tape is the answer, you’re asking the wrong question.

Amen. The only time I was ever in charge of anything (a state of affairs that has blessedly ended), I made damned sure our department had it’s own toolbox, which we kept under lock and key.
All requests for the location of the key were met with an icy stare and a frosty reminder that real managers don’t need to borrow tools, since real managers keep their departments properly supplied with the essentials.
I was not popular with a certain class of manager, the sort that liked to whine about teamwork, but that was fine, as those sort of drooling slackasses were never very popular with me to begin with.
A full toolbox, but it’ll be full of Whitworth and other Imperial measure oddities.

Actually the remark was snide, of course, but ducts should be sealed with compound, if done properly. Gardner Bender makes good stuff, which I like to use a lot. Fills big gaps,doesn’t harden.
Mike Holmes invariably is shown dealing with homeowner ignorance that could and should have been resolved much earlier, and he shakes his head and “Fixes” it in a way that- if the homeowner could have afforded it, they would have done it that way to start out with. Or the “Previous contractor” was an irish travellor.
