So today
Would MLK be disgusted with what he saw, were he alive?
Mr B asks that question, and it’s a pretty damned good one.
Me, I tend to think yes. My better angels like to think that he wouldn’t have ended up another Jesse/Sharpton/Oprah/whomever race hustler, but a man who really did have a dream, and it would be wonderful if his dream could have come true.
I’m more inclined to think that the race hustlers allowed him to be or at least were pleased for him to be the sacrificial lamb. it allowed them the power of public opinion to back their plan for theft, graft, corruption and greed, while doing nothing whatsoever to actually help the people they purport to assist. It also allowed the message of “Equal for all” to die, and be replaced with a culture of victimhood that today is so powerful that it removes all reason from all public discussion of race. Without that culture of victimhood, people would be equal- really equal- and the race hustlers would be unemployed and poor. So you know that can and will never change.
I wish we could see your dream come true, Dr. King. Instead we have a country that will all eventually become Detroit.
Agree. His dream was that they became equal, not victims.
It is our legal team that has so perverted the victim to the point it is a desired outcome.
Every white on black crime is evidence of the continued oppression of blacks by whites. Not so much black on black or black on white. Regardless of any and all facts that might point in a different direction.
MLK was a good man. Would that he had lived.
Celebrate Diversity. Or Else.
With all due respect, Paul, Dr. King’s dream was that WE become equal. He was speaking to all of us, and about all of us.
Never forget that in the immortal B&W photograph of MLK giving the speech, standing beside him and behind him look to be the minions of Malcolm X. At least those men wearing war faces were dressed in Malcom X’ uniform headgear.
Could that be interpreted to mean that MLK had already sold out his “Non-violent” Civil Rights Movement to the biggest race pimp of the day?
It’s hard to say. There is plenty of evidence that MLK was every bit the self-serving race pimp that all his followers and family became. He just died before it started to show.
it’s possible. We can’t question the dead, though, so I’ll have to wait and see.
