There certainly seem to be plenty of people
spoiling for a bloody revolution. All forgetting that in those revolutions the wrong side usually wins.
I have always been amused at the Mormon approach-they are well thought of by most people that know them just because they are so damned nice. Shit, I never met a one who didn’t leave me feeling a bit lazy.
Problem is the left and it’s minions are immune to decency, no matter what. Look at this photograph of Pat McCrory having just handed an abortion advocate a plate of cookies. See the stupid look on her face?
This gesture of decency was met with nastiness and contempt, of course. That’s all the left knows. So while my better angels try to get me to be nice, it appears time has come.
But full on battle against an opponent who has superior numbers, superior armaments, superior training, and the force of the law and the media and the educational system behind it is just ludicrous.
of course, in the minds of the faithful, this is all just so much blather. When the faithful return to their faith, there is salvation- always is. The Jews in the ghetto and later in the concentration camp turned to the one thing that was left to them, the one thing that couldn’t be taken from them- their faith. We see things happening now, evidence of some fairly strong faith- but the faith of the Jews was such that it took a really superior enemy, in the nazi war machine, and caused it to collapse of it’s own volition through hubris and incompetence.
Liz at Halfbaked Sourdough (Update your links, folks) regularly speaks about prayer warriors, and this is indeed a prayer war. There will be advances and acheivements, and they will come with a lot of hard work, but they will not come without prayer. Most of mine involve a desire for the wisdom to know when and where not to be nice anymore.

Got your back, bro.
And I yours.
There came a time for the Bielski bros to shoot back.
I need a lot wisdom myself. Recent increases in prayer have brought blessings but I expect the answer to “how much prayer is enough?” is the same as to “how much ammo is enough?” Which is, “more.”
Indeed, Knox. Which is why I try to live my life as if my actions themselves were prayers.
I fail a lot.
It does feel pretty dark out right now.
Prayers for our wisdom, indeed.

It’ll take more than prayers. The Jews resisted the Nazis, but they did not bring down the Nazi movement. US, Brit and Russian troops did that, and in the Russian and maybe Brit cases, did it without caring about the Jews.
As a futurist by choice, and with military and LE experience, I can make the following predictions:
Assymetrical Warfare will happen. Soon, unless the Government calls off the repression.
When Assymetrical Revolution happens, it’s initial success against the Meglodon of Government will cause the Government to over-react, and then it WILL become a civil war.
In set-piece battles, the revolutionaries will lose. They will quickly adapt and not fight any more setpiece battles. They will revert to assymetrical tactics and win most of their encounters.
The Government will not be able to hold the transportation infrastructure of the US together, and the Nation will revert to regional fiefdoms, one or two of which will be controlled by the revolutionaries. The Government will pound those areas from the air, but that will not kill off enough revolutionaries to enable ground troops to retake that territory.
The Government will not be able to feed the gimme-gimme class, and their allegiance will turn to whoever CAN feed them.
This will be a war of information, and the Government has the edge, but new ways of communicating will come up, and the Government won’t be able to shut them all down, so the revolutionaries will have their comms, even if they look more 1950 than 21st Century.
In addition to a crippled transportation infrastructure, there will be too little energy infrastructure left, because it is MOST vulnerable to attacks in the hinterlands. The Government will only hold sway in those areas where they can reliably provide energy. Where they can’t, they lose the edge.
The war won’t last long. The first thing to go will be the economy, and the Government will have NO chance to recover it. Hell, they can’t recover it now with all the control they have.
Nope, in a chess-board war, the Government wins in seven moves. In this war, they will not have a chance. Chessmen don’t stay in position on a tilted board
I think that the Government will figure this out, and make a major effort to project “normalcy” over the next couple of years. I think that they will totally abandon their war on guns, realizing as they must that it could and WILL start the Revolution when it gets to a certain point.
The Government is not dumb. They can and may adapt, if boneheads like Jarrett & Co lose their sway. If they hold onto power, the election of 2016 will never happen, and the next election which will will happen in the Second Republic.
Wow, River, that is indeed a dark prognosis. Possible, but dark.
Prayers, like letters to Congress, seem equally ineffective for me. Most likely because the recipient in either case doesn’t really care what I want.
Your mileage may vary.
You have to understand what you are praying for and for the right things. You cannot imagine how well it works when you do it right.
If I am praying for what God wants to do anyway, then my prayer is equally ineffective since it adds nothing to the Holy Will. God does not take opinion polls before acting. Note, this is a logical argument, not a theological one.
So you never actually read the bible.
Your logic is always horrible, Hale, id stick to impossible moneymaking schemes, at least theyre more entertaining.
“We see things happening now, evidence of some fairly strong faith- but the faith of the Jews was such that it took a really superior enemy, in the nazi war machine, and caused it to collapse of it’s own volition through hubris and incompetence.”
It was gonna do that even if the Jews hadn’t had any faith, because it always had the seeds of its own destruction (racial-obsessed Everything for starters; that they rejected real science because they labeled if ‘Jewish’ reflects only the moment’s obsession and that the best physics was being done by Jews at the moment; if it had been being done by Chinese they’d have whined about it being ‘degenerate Asiatic science’.
NIH syndrome at an unbelievable scale and with the most foolish basis possible…).
That and, like rivrdog said, being creamed by the Allies. That helped a lot.
(That and, in practice, the US government didn’t give a fig for the Jews in WW2 either, at least not until the war was over.)
So: none of this happened because of prayer. I really feel bad for you guys.
No doubt lots of people prayed fervent prayers for Obama to get elected and God answered their prayers… twice. A relatively equal number prayed for the opposite and did not get what they wanted.
Prof Hale: Unless of course that Obama being elected is necessary to answer the prayers that God work a change in our hearts. I think we needed Carter to be ready for Reagan; sometimes we (as people) have to hit bottom before we are willing or able to change. Nobody prays for a heart attack, but some of us need one before we eat right and exercise. President Obama may be the heart attack this country needs (not wants, but needs) to change it’s ways. My experience with prayer is to receive what I need, not what I want.
Seriously, Hale, stick with harebrained moneymaking. Theology is an undiscovered country for you.
“Problem is the left and it’s minions are immune to decency, no matter what. Look at this photograph of Pat McCrory having just handed an abortion advocate a plate of cookies. See the stupid look on her face?”
WTF, she has an adams apple?
Lol. Good catch Steve!!!!!!
Prayer isn’t effective at a mass level, it is most effective on a personal level, where the individual gains comfort and inspiration, finding the courage that makes him/her a “force-multiplier”. Islam is an example of prayer on a mass level, since the religion REQUIRES it five times a day. Within Islam, though, those individuals who are INSPIRED by prayer (the Jihadists), seem to be effective enough fighters.
So, if I grok what Og is trying to say, Churches can only work their goodness if the parishioners, as individuals, believe in the power of prayer.
No belief required, only faith. But yeah.
