it has been a long time
Since i opened one of the copper colored boxes and pulled out a new Nikon. Im happy to report it is still as satisfying- though much lighter.
In 1975 “plastic” was a bad word, on a camera. Not so much these days.

Or guns or cars or pretty much anything. I know I was surprised to get a suspension part for a taurus only to find it was made of plastic.
Not so much these days no… but the better nikons these days are plastic cladding over magnesium.
I certainly love my last three. I’m on a D5100 right now and it’s spectacular.
