I have to say
that having toted a Nikon Photomic F, and an F3 (My first “new” camera) as well as a host of medium format stuff, the near lack of heft of the D3100 is at first, disconcerting- Am I holding a real camera? Of course once you see what it can do, all those concerns go away. I hope to take some pictures of some of the guns I’ve worked on, so I can finally show off the details of the work with some level of the prettiness they contain.

Comparing a light camera to a lightweight handgun, does the lightweight camera allow more jitter?
Does that make sense?
I am a published (a looong time ago) photographer; my main camera for decades was a Nikon Photomic fT and associated lenses and accessories. I have a Nikon SP rangefinder and I have used a Crown Graphic extensively. I did my own color processing. I mostly stopped years ago because of the usual things in life that interfere with avocations. Almost all of my negatives and slides are lost. I finally went digital about four years ago with a Panasonic DMC-FZ7 because the lens is made by E> Leitz (Leica). I’ve shot thousands of family pictures since then and am enjoying the heck out of it and the originals are safe, backed up several ways (original SD cards, hard drive and backed up onto CDs and now, DVDs). The digital revolution has changed my old business for both good and bad but I am enjoying it and recording my family’s days once again. Thanks for the text space.

Very cool, Russ. Have you thought about making any of those photos public?
