There are
a few songs I get sick to death of, over the years.
But I loves me some Christmas songs. I can listen to Sleigh Ride done by about anyone. My personal favorites are the Boston Pops. Mitch Miller. Johnny Mathis.
I also like White Christmas. Winter wonderland. Santa Baby. Hell, there’s hardly a one that I don’t like, and I always love the radio stations that play all christmas music for weeks.
I have great Christmas memories, and not all of them are comforting and happy. Still, the season means a good deal to me, for people still among us, and people long gone. The season passes so qickly now it’s hard to believe- and I keep thinking about how long it used to be when I was a kid.
maybe I’m just unusual in that I am constantly aware of just how much I have to be thankful for

Burl Ives is the trigger for me to know the season is here.
Christ’s Mass is a good season.
yah baby! Like Sands through the Hourglass of time, these are the days of Burl Ives.
This one always gets me right “there”:

Dammit. Where’s the Kleenex……
We’re plying a bunch of Hawaiian Christmas carols and songs, and some Surf-Christmas – I like Mele Kalikimaka at high speed, but Bing is OK too for that.
notC- man, that is awesome, I had forgotten all about that one!
Ah Christmas….the one time of the year when an ol reprobate like me can, at the very least, smell the scent of innocence lost. Innocence personified in the form of a child born in a manger…
The carols, sacred and profane, trigger this. And for all too short a time, at least for me, there is a real sense of thanksgiving and a glimmer of hope for the future.
And an early, and heartfelt, Merry Christmas to all in the house of Og, and my fellow commenters here.
If your interested, I have posted this years Christmas poem with a doodle, as he calls them, by my friend LE Stevens…

I am enjoying your post above this one! But it does make my head hurt a bit….there really are some stupid people in the world, aren’t there….
