I had to be told
who Phil Robertson was, I don’t watch TV other than mystery and cooking shows anymore.
Sheesh.
This Phil guy is laughing all the way to the bank, just like Liberace did. Who the hell cares? it’s a fine sport to castigate those who are “Homophobic”, I know, it’s been practiced on me on a regular basis- even though you have to have a really epic ignorance of who and what I am to accuse me of any such nonsense.
There is no freedom of speech. I am constantly amused by the people who are firm in their conviction that this fiction exists. If this blog were read by more than six people and people were actually paying attention to anything I said, it would be gone. I’m here because this is the backwaters of the intarweb. Get over it. if you have an unpopular or un politically correct opinion, just keep it to yourself, redneck, you’re wrong because we said.
Like the anencephalic brats that accuse me of homophobia, their ignorance and personal agenda is more important than the freedom of people they don’t like. Deal with it.
I don’t even duck hunt but I just pulled the trigger on a duck call.

I’ve got a couple myself from Duck’s Unlimited. Not that I want to shoot the little buggers. Not sure but the last one could be from his company.
If I invest the time to go into the field I want to be fed for a few days or weeks.
But all being said, I have to saw I agree with Robertson. Personally I did not find much to admire in A&E and now I see even less.
I bought some new eyeglasses a couple months ago, and was chagrined to find they were “Duck Commander” brand eyeglass frames.
They were the best style and price on the rack in my opinion.
Now to buy a duck call.
Make it my ringtone.
Here’s the thing that bugs A&E. Robertson was their employee. Of course he’s entitled to his opinion, but he’s speaking with a great big A&E sign on him and that makes corporate pretty nervous.
If you said stuff like that in public your boss would probably get nervous too and you’re not even on TV.
Is that right on their part? I dunno, it’s their bat and their ball and he signed their contract, I think that means he has to dance to their tune. Or not.
Could this be to some degree manufactured by a family that has their name on more products than Carters has little liver pills and is looking for help to sell all that crap and real fast? Say it isn’t so!
For the record, A&E is owned by a joint partnership between The Hearst Company and Disney. I would imagine Disney is the more upset about it.
I’m not surprised about the gay stuff, THIS is what surprised me:
“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”
I was alive in those times too and I saw plenny plenny mistreatment of black people with my own two eyes and heard it with my own two ears, sometimes daily. (I was in the same boat because I was a Catholic, they didn’t like me any better.) Anyone that wants to go back to the Jim Crow days where it was okay to deny people jobs, deny people the right to vote, deny people the right to education … put people in fear of their lives for not being exactly those happy darkies he describes … that’s some scary stuff right there and I don’t understand why more people aren’t up in his face over that.
Just saying. My opinion, hell, I could be wrong.

For the rest of you folks who might want to emulate Og:
Be aware that “Duck Commander is the family, and items branded “Duck Dynasty” are A&E brands. Profits from the first go to the Robertsons, the second to the network.
Thanks B. I should have pointed that out.
I should also point out that Phil Robertson holds both bachelor and masters degrees and was licensed to teach in the Louisiana public school system. (Heck, maybe still is, for all I know.) Granted, from Louisiana Tech, so we’re not talking the Ivy League here, but that does cast some doubt on the ignorant redneck stereotype.
Hmm, this smells increasingly like … oh, the bayou. I would tell you all a Boudreaux joke now but that would be terribly incorrect of me, wouldn’t it?

This is all a warmup for the REALLY big dustup just around the corner of Gay and Butthurt Streets. That will be in Sochi, Russia.
There are so many ways that dustup could go, I couldn’t begin to list them, but suffice it to say that it’s NOT beyond the realm of possibility that the entire Winter Olympics collapses this time around because of it.
It WILL be fun to watch, though. Getting the facts on what happens will be a major PITA.
I been plenty of places like he describes. At some level of poverty there is no distinction of race. I’m inclined to accept what he says because he certainly doesn’t benefit in any way from saying it.
Yes, those same southern democrats who were responsible for the jim crow laws are now the ones proclaiming to be the only true friends the downtrodden have; they were evil then and they are evil now.
There is a whole bunch of looking at the mote in Russia’s eye while overlooking the beam in everyone else’s, isn’t there?
Not that Russia is right in what they’re doing but clean up your own houses before you start criticizing other people’s housekeeping.
We should just stop having Olympics; they’ve become so perverted from their original intent and turned into a commodity and used for political reasons … Here’s the Olympic pledge: “In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honour of our teams.”
When was the last time you saw that?
Jenny
I don’t give a shit what the russians do, but yeah, the gay community is sure pointing at their mote alright.
Like I said, every other country in the world has some work to do on making life more equitable for everybody else back home … the labels change but the prejudices and bigotry and etc. remain. But it’s okay because … well, why is it okay?
Jenny
It is ok. It’s ok because life isn’t fair. And to all those who wish life was fair, I can only say, grow the fuck up and grow a pair or shut the fuck up. Adversity makes heroes out of ordinary men. Whining about unfairness creates a victim mentality that makes me want to wipe humans off the planet and leave the place to the dogs and cockroaches.
So it’s okay to discriminate against people of a different race or gender or religion or ethnicity because life is unfair? Just because it happens every day doesn’t make it right.
I’ll just shut the fuck up now.
Jenny
“So it’s okay to discriminate against people of a different race or gender or religion or ethnicity because life is unfair?”
it has nothing to do with OK, it is how it is, and you cannot stop it. You can accept it as fact and move on, or you can “Do something” which is the holy grail of liberalism. “Life is unfair! We must DO SOMETHING!(tm)” Problem is “Doing something” has always, always, always fucked things up worse than the original problem. Every. Single. Time. Each problem eventually fixes itself- those people who are mistreated disappear- look at the Neanderthal or the marsh arabs- or they drag theirselves out of the situation.
Chinese in this country were treated as badly or worse than blacks. Their lives were horrible by anyone’s standards. And nobody went to war to protect them. Instead they dragged themselves out of their own predicament, and today, look for the achievers in every technical field, and you will find a lot of them have funny looking eyes. Nobody did this for them, they did it for themselves. I want a world of people who will do for themselves. I want those who won’t get off their asses and do for themselves to disappear.
“I want those who won’t get off their asses and do for themselves to disappear.”
That would be a sweet day indeed!
