Catching the end of “Bucket list” before heading to the funshow.
Nicholson has always been a superior actor. And it is unquestionable that Morgan is incredible. Why is it that in this day and age, the really great ones are like this? Why does Nicholson have to be a dick? Why does Freeman have to be a racist? Were the old generation of actors like this? Carey Grant, Jimmy Stewart? Randolph Scott, Slim Pickens? Was the media better at covering it up?
I don’t know. It taints a movie, sometimes, to see Nicholson being a decent human when you know he is a massive dick. And it is an effort to watch the character Freeman plays without seeing the racist moron behind the persona.
Whatchagonna do.

That is certainly worth repeating.
Damned internet. I swear, between the internet breaking and global warming I can’t get a thing done for being gore’d every moment
Dunno that the old guys where any better. Studio pull out all the stops to make sure the hero’s where heroic off and on the screen.
Not so much any more.
Had a chance to have a 45 minute conversation with an Oscar winning actor one time. Couldn’t have asked to meet a nicer fellow.
But then, he was a cowboy and perhaps therein lies the difference.
Of course Stewart was a war hero, USAF general and patriot.
They are actors, therefore they can act like decent people when they pay them too… I am sure there are a few good ones, most keep their heads down so as not to get unnoticed attention and still get work if they are of the conservative bent… hey, it’s ruled by libtards out there too… and yes, I think some of the old ones were this way too, but as noted, the studio’s kept them toned down.. at least i the press… got a neighbor who saw Hope in Korea during the Vietnam years, said he was the most foul mouthed man he had ever heard, and this guy ain’t real dainty.. I was surprised…
