paying dues
No, not figuratively, I mean actually paying the dues for my range, at last nights meeting. Great presentation by an Illinois copper about Illinois ccw. Bottom line of course is, no out of state ccw for you! But the foot is in the door. Give it time.

Wife wants to go to Mordor on vacation next year. I was wondering if I kept a gun in a locked case and the magazines and bullets in a separate locked case if that would satisfy Ill Popo. I would bet not as I think you need the FOID card as well?
Since you are talking with the guy, and I know you travel through that state from time to time, maybe you could answer the question for us inquiring minds?
Thanks
It’s OK. Nothing in Illinois I wanted to see again anyway.
paul: The bottomline is, an out of stater with a valid out of state CCW can carry IN HIS CAR. You have to secure the firearm if you leave the car. The trick bag is, if the officer tells you to get out of the car at a stop, and you do, you’re breaking the law. It is complex and I do not want to be the test case.
So if I have it in a locked case and the case stays in the car, I’m good. Not optimum, but I can live with it.
And, no, I will not call you should I need a legal beagle.
You can keep it cocked and locked on your person IN YOUR CAR. I can try to get the gentleman’s name and get it to you. he teaches a compliance course.
As you say, it’s a start. In most every State that’s passed Shall-Issue CCW, improvements have been passed over the years to liberalize conditions. Better reciprocity is one, fewer No-Carry zones is another. Getting the PSH’ers past the Blood in the Streets beliefs helps open the floodgates.
