busy.
Running all day Saturday and a lot of sunday. Saturday I put my hands on a log splitter that can only accurately be described as an osha violation. I will be renaming it “DEATHMUNCHER!” and when the weather changes it will go to work munching up the balance of the cherry and oak in the backyard.
The splitter itself was made by Monkey Wards, and I expect there were two made, I am confident the other one is still in an evidence locker. Pictures to follow.

If you have a bunch to split a log splitter is good to have. If it is a little green it will cleave it with little effort.
Mad Mike probably has the other one.
So something like this?

Worse than mine?
Yours is at least a traditional design. And no, it’s not anything like as spooky as a flywheel with an axe head welded onto it, but it is pretty nasty. I should have pics before the weekend.
At the risk of seeming like a nit-picker, I believe Monkey Wards sold a lot of stuff, but didn’t actually “make” anything. For example, you could buy the same Marlin rifle from Penneys, Wards or Sears, and the only difference was the “brand” name and, sometimes, the model number. So your splitter was probably made elsewhere for sale by Wards.
That clip made me pee in my pants a little. Scary machine, plenty of wood on the ground to trip over. Yowzah.
Dave: indeed. The company that made this for wards is now probably in receivership.
