Yaaaay! It’s SLEETING!
But it is NOT SNOW and I DON”T HAVE TO SHOVEL IT.
The poor old blower has done yeoman’s work this year, and I intend to disassemble it come summer, sand and spray some rusty bits, and give her a thorough workover prior to next year. It’s earned it.

Wish I could do just that with my shovel. Unfortunately, this year’s shovel is worn to almost a nub. It’ll get through 1 or 2 more snowfalls, which I think we’ll probably get yet this winter, but then it’ll have to be retired, and I’ll start with a fresh one next winter.
I used to buy good shovels with riveted steel edges but it seems less trouble just to retire them.
Og, I know those shovels. The problem I have with them is the uneven wearing of the steel edge. Nowadays when I buy a snow shoveling shovel, prior to putting the blade to my driveway, I remove the steel edge. I find that I get a more even wear of the tough plastic blade, though it does wear down after a winter like we’ve experienced this year.
Ayup. Unless you have a perfectly smooth concrete drive.
I got in the habit of belt sanding the corners back and repeating when they wore down flush, but you can’t even buy a shovel like that-aluminum shovel, steel edge, wood handle. So I buy $7 plastics and toss after a couple big snows.
