A splendid repast
I ended 05 with old friends and good food. I marinated, skewered and grilled deer, chicken, shrimps. I made california rolls, half a dozen different finger foods, etc. I had a couple bottles of nice wine, including a good sauternes, one of my personal vices- (Though I’ve saved the drinking of that for today)and we ate and drank and talked and laughed the new year in. In 05 I buried a few family members, met some people IRL that I’ve known online a long time, watched the world change, watched my child grow. May we all have hundreds more like it.
Happy New Year!

Did that deer cut up ok? I did read your posting about the mechanics of it, but did your cutting work out better in the taste department? (Re: bone shards from the butcher’s saw)
I’ll bet it tasted better because you did it all yer own self!
You’ve inspired me a tad; I’m gonna do my own next time I drag one in from the backyard.
ANYway- HNY (again)
Hey, it was great. I was able to remove most of the sinew and membrane as I cut, so I now have a bunch of clean, gristle-less meat. No waste. No bone chips.
To quote Homer, “Mmmmmm… deer meat”.
happiest of New Years to you and your family
“Old friends and good food.”
No better way to see in a New Year. No better way to spend time under ‘most any circumstances, in fact.
May your 2006 be all to the good.
