Today’s gospel
Is about the blind man and the pool of Siloam. The bottomline being “Real vision comes from the Creator, it is not something you can acquire for yourself”.
Look to your friendly neighborhood antitheist for proof that this is true. It is no mistake or accident that the angriest and contrariest are the anti-theists.

God’s spit and some mud as I recall. Usually people who have trouble with that one also have a problem with faith in general.
All three readings today dealt with blindness or obscure vision. Samuel anointing David was Old Testament. Hidden talents and gifts.
God taking common materials to unite and communicate with fallen Man. Still happens today with the Sacraments.
On the light side, there are places in the Bible that are fun to read, and down right hilarious even if they’re not intending that. Today’s Gospel is one. “Is this your son, and has he been blind since birth? Yup. Then why can he see now? How the heck should we know; anyway, he’s an adult, go ask him yourself and quit bugging us. How did he open your eyes? You asked me once and blew me off, what makes me think you’ll listen this time. [sarcasm] Maybe you want to become his disciples too [/sarcasm].”
There’s some good comedic gold in there, if you rest the solemnity a bit.
Went to see Noah over the weekend. if you know the story skip it. if you don’t know the story, Hollywood has spiced it up to where you should read the bible and not trust this one.
Emma Watson does get some major emotion, but her part is all made up out of whole cloth.
They manage to bash progress while at the same time diminishing God. Good trick that.
You know, I’m a lifelong atheist … and I think you’re right.
People who are anti-theists just never shut up about it and are really, really mad about it, typically.
Sig: some of the most Christian people I know are atheists.
Never met an atheist, or for that matter a homo sexual, who would not tell you about it and how it was the only right choice withing ten minutes of meeting them.
Suckers all.
Paul;
You’re only basing that on the people that you know are atheist.
Don’t generalize. You probably know a shocking number of atheists and have no idea that they are atheists.
Also, depends on your definition of “atheist.”
If your definition is “a person who does not believe in a higher power, whether consciously or unconsciously” then most of the people that you know are atheist. Even the ones that go to church and claim to be christian.
I don’t say that as denigration of those people – if only we were all perfect (life would be effing boring)…
