I have not had
a spoonful of ice cream or a frappe or a frozen treat of any kind since the beginning of lent. This has been as much fun for me as giving breech birth to a flaming porcupine. So to tone down the burning hunger I sacrifice a marmoset to the twin gods Ben and Jerry occasionally buy a box of good and plenty. Good and plenty is my go to candy outside Chocolate, and I barely do any of that anymore.
Did you know that good and plenty is bloody hard to fine in normal size? Almost all of it comes in those damend movie theater crates, and I have no more business eating that than the man in the moon. And since I am a fairly typical guy, and serving size is ‘When the fucking container is empty’, I won’t buy the big box.
And then I discovered that the small box is the same damned price as the big box almost everywhere. sons of bitches. I’m gonna have to put it into single serving bags.
Also. Black licorice is a laxative, it turns out.

I think it is the anise in the licorice. It does look like we are in the land of giants based on serving size any more.
The Haribo Sugarless Gummi Bears have recently become (in)famous for their laxative properties. Read the reviews. :)
Not to mention that black licorice is actually green. Don’t ask how I know that, please.
Indeed! And I know it well myself
I always wondered why Dad liked black licorice.
He used to mix it up with red hots and peanuts. I shuddered every time I saw him eat that shit.
The first time I turned around and looked and saw a bowl of green, there were a few “what, whats” going on before remembering the bag of licorice that was eaten the night before.
Just wondering if anybody would have to guess what color is anise?
And what did the Lord do to convert mild old celery into that stuff?
The ways of the creator can certainly be wonderful.

Small boxes, bulk pack.
Now you’re talking.
I haven’t seen a small box in ages. Good and Plenty and Dots are usually found in our bread box at home. There’s usually more of it in there, than actual bread.
Og,
Have you ever had Dutch Salt Licorice?
I was given a kilo of it over forty years ago by a friend who bought it at Schiphol airport and found he couldn’t stand it. It took me two days to eat the entire bag and I’ve loved it since.

You didn’t know about the licorice? My mom used to give me licorice when I was stopped up as a kid. Worked like a charm.
Of course, you gotta find the real stuff. The fake stuff just plugs you up worse.
