There is
reasonably broad line between “Easter finery” and “Dowdy”, and a lot of women cross it before their bodies require that they do.
There are a couple of broad lines between “Easter finery” and “Hoor”, and I’m still amazed at the number of people who can’t figure that out. And there isn’t any age limit on the latter, either, sheesh.
The daughter’s Prom meeting was last week. We went through all the line items including dress code, and the dress code would be a really nice guide for Easter dresses: Demure, bare arms and legs to just below the knee, no visible cleavage for or aft, and no visible back skin.
The wife and the oglet did this on a budget, and along with many of the ladies at church yesterday were smoking hot stunning.
You don’t have to look like a lap dance girl to be attractive, and it’s kinda inappropriate in church, OK?
Otherwise, the priest was awesome and the mass was the best Easter mass I’ve been to in ten years at least.

Ours was about Thomas the twin. Put that whole sequence in new light.
The complaint I hear too often is that all the prom dresses “are made that way”, that is, to show off more than they should.
I go to a predominantly Hispanic church, and some of the ladies are drop-dead gorgeous. Bear in mind I grew up in an Italian neighborhood, so when I was in High School if you didn’t like girls with hips you didn’t like girls. Some of the ladies dress a little scantily for church, but mostly not excessively so (for instance, two more inches on the hemline would change it from borderline to perfectly acceptable). Except for one young lady, who gives me fits when I’m serving the chalice and she’s kneeling at the altar rail.
I have been mildly disappointed by the lack of women wearing hats on Easter.
herry: I’m wicha. mark, I have memories of that altar rail and girls with their heads at crotch level and sweating hard thinking of ANYTHING ELSE.
Hats (for the ladies) at church….some with “Gasp”, veils !! There was also that little bit (usually white and knitted) of cloth some women wore…whose name escapes me at the moment…..
I remember that from years gone by. And modesty in dress while attending Mass….though the truly stunning woman would attract attention even if she was wearing BDU’s.
