Here it comes.
Dignity USA, the US organization whose aim is to force the Catholic Church to marry gays (What? You’re CRAZY og! That never happens! ) is gaining strength. They have been around since I was in seminary, but they’re getting funding now from some pretty high powered sources. Here’s their “Vision statement” which of course doesn’t exist because og is a big stupid poopy head.
DignityUSA envisions and works for a time when Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Catholics are affirmed and experience dignity through the integration of their spirituality with their sexuality, and as beloved persons of God participate fully in all aspects of life within the Church and Society.
Nosiree, not happening. Like I said these guys have been around a long time, and they are just a nice group of peaceful people who are just the most wondrous types of folks you’d ever meet, and they have NO AGENDA. They really just want to be left alone. And have the Catholic church rain blessings down on them.
Gaah. I hate being right.
Look, if you haven’t been a Catholic for fifty years or more, and you don’t know where the bodies are buried by virtue of having buried some of them yourself, or if you know a gay guy and he’s not anything like that at all, or especially if you’re a twisted freak who was diddled by Pastor Ron when you were twelve and have a bone to pick with G-d, I really, really want to hear from you in comments. Nothing makes my day more than hearing from people who don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.

Then you may as well close commenting here.
Lol.
I could second that. PC is the death of us all.
Why can’t these dignitaries join the Episcopal Church. They can have their way AND “tut tut” at us, too. Win-win, unless of course they just want to wreck everything they cannot have. But PC folks interested in dignity would never do that, would they?
“wreck everything they cannot have. ”
You must just be a small minded poppy head just like me to even think such thoughts. Gay people are peaceful and only want to be left alone. Just like the muslims that kidnapped those teens and plan to sell them into slavery.
I imagine there are those who happen to be gay (or muslim…or, back in the mid 1930’s-mid 1940’s…”good” Germans) who honestly are good people. BUT if they refuse to accept the fact that there are many many more people of their ilk (or fellow travelers) with agenda(s) which are …dare I say it….evil!!! I know that is soooo judgmental of me…perhaps even racist…maybe both!!!
But here’s the point… if you are one of the supposed good “non-agendised” folks of the gay persuasion, and you fail to do anything about the evil being done in “your name”…then guess what sparky….you is part of the problem. (This is also true for those mythical “moderate muslims out there….but that is a topic for another time….and heaven knows if my delicate ego could handle being called a hater on top of the other two epitaphs above….hey wait, it’s hockey season…guess I could take a hat trick for the team! )
Attention: Political correctness = refusal to accept reality = insanity.
That is all.
Nothing else to see here, move along, please.
They want to integrate their spirituality with their sexuality? I would have thought that the study of Yoga would be more appropriate to the task than pestering the poor Catholics.
are affirmed and experience dignity through the integration of their spirituality with their sexuality, and as beloved persons of God participate fully in all aspects of life within the Church and Society
See, I’m not a Catholic.
I’m not even a Christian, or even a Theist.
But I know a lot about Catholic theology [for a non-believer, especially], and even I know this is barking mad ludicrous nonsense.
How alleged Catholics can think that possible is beyond me, so I utterly agree with your final statement.
The desired outcome is simply fundamentally incompatible with the claimed “spirituality”.
I know that. Why don’t they? They ought to know it better than I do.
(I notice, as an aside, that real Christians rarely talk about “spirituality”.
Probably because they know it’s not the same as Religion, and Religion is the thing.)
“I know that. Why don’t they? They ought to know it better than I do.”
Sigivald, they *do* know that, and hate it. It’s plain and simply rebellion against the very God they claim to believe in – who has made it it *very* clear on what He thinks of homosexuality.
I will admit to an affinity for taking a hard look at the history of the Catholic Church, because – history. Especially fringe “history” (which is little more than fantasy fiction without ray-guns – though lizardoid peoples are a strong possibility). As to the modern Church and it’s various members? Not being one, I mostly confine myself to the occasional point-n-giggle when they do/say something remarkably silly in public.
Like this example.
Anyone claiming membership in a group, who demands the group accept his/her practice of a prohibited action for the good of the group membership can be safely considered to have other than the group’s well-being in mind.
I think it safe to say that, people who go about stirring up shit have a demonstrated affinity for shit. And they should keep it to themselves.
