For the amount of crap I have going on,
I’d need the energy and speed of a cheetah. Instead, I’m more like, well, a pygmy marmoset. How did all this crap pile up? And I still can’t get anyone to help me with the damned back lawn. This is the most recent rejection.
“We had one of our Crew Leaders go out and look at your property. Unfortunately, we cannot safely send our crew out to complete this job. We apologize for this. If you find yourself needing fertilizer, weed control or grub preventative please keep us in mind. ”
Pussies. They have a bunch of healthy kids with Mexican jetskis, I am a 54 year old man with two bad knees and a garbagepicked pushmower. Where are the people who are willing to work?

Once upon a time there used to be a country that contained large amounts of teenagers that were willing to do manual labor.
Now, even if you find one willing with permission from the overlords (work permit), most won’t hire due to litigation fears.
Exactly!!!
Mexican jetskis… Heh.
heh. I just got back from a trip to the store and the “professional” lawn care service cutting the grass at the local bank didn’t bother to pick up the trash from the walmart parking lot. There was shredded newspapers and modern tumbleweeds (plastic bags) being mowed down.
you might be better off just getting some goats.
I wonder about that. I love goats, but they aren’t very efficient grass eaters, most I know would rather eat weeds (and bark and anything they’re not supposed to eat)than grass.
Yeah, but then you can eat the non-grass eating ones. Send a message the rest of ’em. “Eat grass, or you’re next on the BBQ!”
I am nmot interested in adding “Slaughter obstinate goats” to my already overlarge workload.
I’d rather just start a fire.
Get Llamas. I had goats and they were incredibly destructive to the landscaping and persistent in crushing the fence around the food garden.
Llamas used to be the ‘in’ animal but now you can get a neutered male anywhere from free to $50 – all three of mine were free rescues.
They are not ‘cuddly’ (don’t like to be touched much) but they are very friendly. One of mine will munch the occasional flower but otherwise, the gardens are untouched.
You do need a fenced yard – 4′ is fine.
Oh. From your post I didn’t realize you had grass.
yes, goats are destructive and like to jump on cars and anything high. As well as preferring brush/stickerbushes.
Have had goats eat acres of poison ivy growing on barns.
I have horses (that I don’t keep at home) and every time I cut my 2.5acres of grass I think of it as wasted grazing space.
Check on alpacas too.
B-b-b-b-b-but… slaughtering obstinate goats leads to roast mutton! And tasty goat BBQ! And neighbors coming over to mooch off your tasty goat BBQ!
OK, maybe that last part isn’t so good.
Although fire works for me as well. You can make s’mores with a fire. Mmmmmmm, s’mores……
Of course the lawn care companies won’t take your back yard — too much potential liability. Your mistake is not directly hiring a Mexican on a jetski to do the work.
On the other hand, I don’t speak Spanish, so I can’t directly approach the lawn guys around here…
