The dog is not overfond of rain
and is very anxious and drools like a st Bernard when it thunders or if there are fireworks.
We have him cordoned off into the living room, mostly, with a small “fence”. this morning he jumped over it so he could stand outside our bedroom door and pant and drool, and the slime spot I stepped in was not the way I’d like to start my Monday.

Abby will come in the bedroom to snoot a hand if there is any indication of a storm. Nor does she want to her business outside if she senses one within 10 miles. She’s actually better at letting us know that a cell is nearby than the radar, earning her the name “Accu-Dog”.
I don’t know if that’s better or worse than stepping in cat barf. But it doesn’t sound fun, either way.
Oy. Cold cat barf is the worst.
As long as no prat falls are included. We have a 20 year old cat that tends to leave surprises in odd places. Have not stepped in any for a few years.
ThunderShirts help a fair bit. Not perfect but if you can get it on your mutt 30 minutes or so ahead of the T-storm or fireworks it helps keep them calm(ish) – relatively speaking. That and we put our FraidyCat mutt in the tile shower (dry, of course).
She knocked a toilet off it’s mooring once pushing herself back behind it. She is not fond of this time of year. Too many thunderstorms, too many fireworks, and too hot. Poor ol’ girl.

I have no connection and make no $ or anysuch thing. Just found it improves the situation for my dog. We were willing to try anything and if this hadn’t worked we were heading toward doggy thorazine.
Max would probably bite you if you tried to put that on him. We have thought about it but I don’t know if we could pull it off.
120 lb. hound dog here doesn’t feel safe anywhere during a storm but in someone’s lap.
