Hobby Lobby wins
By of course a 5-4. I would be thrilled that there is still some modicum of religious freedom, except that more than 40% of what are supposed to be the smartest folks in the room thought it was a good idea to use the force of law to make people to act against their religious convictions.
But make sure you don’t vote in presidential elections, because we want someone in there that can change the flavor of the supremes for the worse, and it only takes one appointment to let them take over. And don’t give me any bullshit about “Romney would have appointed someone just as bad” unless you are GOD HIMSELF, because if you are not, you don’t know. It is certain that Mitt would have acted on his religious beliefs (Which he has, and which are demonstrably strong) in appointing a Supreme. We might have had a 6-3 vote or even 7-2. hell, we might be a tiny increment moved toward taking back the nation.

Yeah for religious freedom.
I like Romney and thought he would do a good job.
Now if the IRS had stayed honest and the vote machine of the democrats had not made up 30% of the electoral votes we might even have got him into office.
This is nice. But it is only a temporary setback for the Progs.
Lost in all the noise this last week over the various SCOTUS rulings was one ruling on Monday that is far worse in it’s long term implications.
SCOTUS sustained the Climate Change Fraud at the heart of the EPA rules declaring CO2 a polutant.
And terrible for you more than me since you live where you must have power to heat your hovels in winter.
I had to reread the following to make sure it was not the Onion it was published in before I believed it.
How’s that “conservative” court member meme go again Og? When we’ve lost Scalia, what chance remains?
I’m very sad for a whole lot of America in the short term. Those people who continue to dream that they can rely on laws based on truth and rational thought in the United States — stay asleep and not revolt — are at risk of being put to sleep permanently by the next terrible winter.
In the long term, America is toast since fraudulent scientism has now been officially replaced science (twice now) as the basis of Constitutional Law.
Bottom line. That ruling on the EPA is the single most important bit of news in this SCOTUS cycle, and it has been downplayed by not only the Soviet-style Media (natch) but also by Conservative media. Nobody is safe sounds overblown. I wish.
Someone has pictures of scalia raping a 3 year old. Is the only thing I can imagine.
Since that was a reason averred for Roberts suddenly switching his vote in support of Obamacare, there must be another angle.
Any reason or none at all does not matter. Reason and rationality have left the building and all that remains is tyranny.
Note that the decision on “does the RFRA apply to corporations” section of the decision was 5-2, not 5-4.
Much more lopsided than nearly-even.
(Which makes sense because the language of the RFRA is not, as I understand it, particularly unclear on the subject.
I can’t wait to see the looks on people’s faces when it’s pointed out that the 103rd Congress that passed it in 1993 had a very strong Democrat majority – it passed the Senate 97-3 and the House by “unanimous consent”.)
It looks like a hollow victory.
Hobby Lobby does not have to buy insurance with the 4 coverages they object to.
But they do have to buy insurance.
And thanks to ACA, all insurance must have those coverages.
Neither the government not Hobby Lobby can compel a private insurance company to sell them insurance that does not comply with ACA.
Hale: That’s nice; etc.
One small step… At least it’s in the RIGHT direction!
In observation of the Court’s ruling on C02 gas, I just farted in their general direction.
