The Oglet went
to the boyfriend’s graduation party, and asked for her class ring back. I fear she broke his heart, poor sucker. I fear he is only the first in a long string she will leave behind her. I coach her to treat him well and not be a dick, I hope that lesson takes.
I liked the kid a lot; he was fragile and apt to illness but he was honest and decent.

If she is like my girls she will settle on the one you are not fond of. Course she could be like my wife and find someone (me) who has some of her dads traits.
Sounds like a good kid. I’m so unused to seeing honest and decent these days that I’ll go a long way to help someone that shows those traits.
My daughter traded up recently, So, I am pretty happy about it. All that sneering at her old BF finally paid off.
Og, just because Oglet broke up with him doesn’t mean the two of you can’t still be friends.
He never came around. I suspect I terrified him.
“He never came around. I suspect I terrified him.”
I am going to edge out onto the ice here, and suggest that that might well be WHY she dropped him.
She wants a man who can stand his ground.
DJ’s first rule of dating: “When you meet her Dad, and he has a shottie close to hand, express polite interest.”
Corollary: “If she makes you wait while she ‘gets ready’, make her wait while her Dad shows you his collection.”
Second rule of dating: “Make the second date a trip to the range.”
First corollary to Rule 2: Her presence is optional.
Life… Hopefully she learned well.
