The downtown area of my hometown
Was a stinking cesspit- almost literally- of tumbledown dancehalls and cheap gin joints. The streets that were paved were almost done so by accident, and the local wildlife consisted of possums and coons eating out of overflowing garbage cans. The lake itself was so filthy only the uninitiated would swim in it. And the methane gas burbling up from swamps of human shit would often catch fire and burn.
Contrast that to the downtown where the Ogwife grew up.

Does make me wonder why she came to me instead of making me go to her.
When we’re in town we visit the gravesites of friends and family. Some so old the lichen are winning the battle.
Like any town, they have issues with blacks.
What you looking at?

Squirrels!
Does boggle the minds on why some people leave areas to go to others.
Yep, there ARE differences…
Ontario is quite lovely. We have friends outside of London/Stratford whom we need to visit one of these days. But I would prefer to be farther south most of the year :)
I spent several months in London, Ontario opening a call center, and the black squirrels in the city parks were a bit of a surprise. Not nearly as much as the free-ranging geese, who were so numerous and fearless you had to boot them out of the way on the sidewalks…
That squirrel lacks black authenticity. It’s WORKING for a living.

In Stratford, do NOT mess with the swans in the downtown park.
My wife learned that lesson the hard way. Swans are, putting it lightly, mean, and if I hadn’t gotten her away from them when I did, they would have taken a chunk out of her hide :)
