You know what I like?
I like t go into a local eating establishment where I have eaten regularly. I like having the girl get my order straight. I like seeing the cook wash his hands and then start preparing my order. I like it when he turns up the flame on the kebab to give the edges that crispiness I like, and they batter the shrooms just before they drop him. I like it when they dip deep into the lemon rice soup and give me big chunks of chicken along with lots of rice. I like it when they have my whole order ready in just a few minutes. I like it when they proprietor himself smiles and thanks me. Good service anywhere is not common, but damn, I like it when I get it.

There are three eateries nearby that treat me like that. I have never had a bad meal in any of them and the staff is unfailingly competent and friendly.

Know what you mean. I have been buying burgers from a local Tastee Freeze for three years and no matter how I order them they have never made a mistake on my order. Service is fast also. Best fries around.
Try ordering a quarter pounder WITHOUT cheese at a Mcdonalds.
And that’s why Waffle House is my favorite eatery.
You must be going to the good ones, which i have yet to find.

Oh, hell there are tons of people who love waffle house. There are also tons of people who vote democrat and drive pontiac aztecs.

I loves me some Waffle House. But I don’t expect Zagat’s-worthy service or food there, just plenty, fast, cheap, and hot. They do that OK by me.

I too like home style eateries. Many I have frequented have fallen to the loss of the head cook or the owner or both. Some chains are good, but for consistency you need a cookie cutter chain.
Some of the mid range franchises will surprise you but that is a function of a good manager. Which is about as rare as a good eatery.
Mmmm. Lemon rice soup (think they called it avgolemina or somethin’ like that at the Greek restaurant I worked in my teens). Haven’t thought about that in YEARS.
Craving me some Greek chicken now too.
