Welp, they’re returning monday
I’ll be on edge until this is done, but nothing I can do about it. I just want these trees down so I don’t have to worry about them falling on something or someone.

When da Missus and I moved into our shiny new home back in ’76 the back part of the lot was heavily forested with mostly alder and cottonwood. Why the Good Lord made cottonwood trees has always been a mystery to me. The wood burns smoky and sour and the seeds cover everything like snow, the seedlings are hard to kill. Alder is dead easy to split burns with a sweet scent, throws no sparks and grows fast if you wish to have it and kills easily. Fir has lots of BTUs in it and splits easily, cedar is easy to kill but burns very quickly with little heat. I have one fir left that will have to come down soon as it is growing too tall and with no neighboring trees near it, the rootball is too small to support it in a high wind. Too bad, really but there it is.
Five years after I had the trees taken down I had to have the stumps ground. That’s a good way to get rid of ’em.
