I’m a big fan of blankets
Especially in the winter. The thicker and the heavier the better. I like to lie up under a thin blanket followed by a wool blanket or two or three, and a down comforter and maybe even another wool blanket.
I’ve slept in the raw since I was a kid, so yesterday, when I put on wool socks and sweats and a hoodie and crawled into bed it was because I had spent all bloody day outside in the miserable cold. Where’s my global warming, algore, you fat pig?

Got a little chilled did you? Last time I got that chilled was after a couple of days deer hunt in in below zero freezing rain. It is not to be searched out just to say you did it.
You bet. The day of schlepping wood was a chilly one indeed.
I used to sleep on an old feather mattress under half dozen blankets in a unheated bedroom every year during deer season. They were some of the best nights sleep I ever had.
You do tend to get dressed and undress ASAP.
Warm a brick on a wood stove, wrap it in a towel, and place it at your feet under the covers. Spent many a night with nothing but a wood stove in the other end of the house. Sock hat helps also.
I have to say I was so glad that Farmer Frank let us use his old farmhouse for that first deer hunt so we had heat and a bathroom, even if there was no furniture.
And sound deadening carpets
