Boehner re elected
Like that’s a surprise to anyone. Will it make any difference? I expect not. HE WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE RE ELECTED. Get that through your head. Also remember this: It took hundreds of elections and years and years of liberals steadily undermining our world to get to this place. There is no one election that is going to fix everything overnight. To get back to some semblance of normalcy we need to use the enemy’s weapons against him, and that means a long march. All of you who are whining about “voting doesn’t mean anything”, remember this: If you’re so damned sure the balance has been tipped and there is no going back forever and the only answer is civil war, who did you kill yesterday? because if you didn’t put a knife in someone’s neck last night, and you don’t plan to vote, you’re just a loudmouthed coward letting other people do your dirty work.
I know too many people who lived in war zones, tried to raise families in the congo, in belfast, in muslim nations. I sure the fuck don’t want that, and you probably don’t either.

How about the people who seem happy at the prospect of the collapse of America, as an opportunity to do it all over. A New American Revolution? What they don’t get is that if America falls it will usher in a Dark Ages that will make the one at the fall of Rome look like the shadow cast by a sparrow on a sunny day. Not to mention that the American Revolution was unique in making things BETTER afterward, unlike the multiple French revolutions, the Russian, Chinese, various South American and African nations revolutions. Think we could pull that rabbit out of the hat AGAIN, without people of the stature of Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Adams (both Sam and John), etc etc etc.
I recall Bill Whittle comparing the US Constitution to the EU version, he described the EU Constitution as reading like a refrigerator manual written by someone who REALLY digs refrigerators.
One of my Georgia friends worked hard to get one of his neighbors elected to the House. One of the promises the new guy made during the campaign was that as soon as he got to DC he would vote to support someone else Not Boehner as the Leader. So yesterday they go to vote and the new guy voted for Boehner.
Of course my friend is “WTF?” Guess it’s just business as usual.
Jenny
There is always an Argalian battle cruiser in orbit around the Earth.
It will be business as usual till we vote the bums out. DO NOT SEND ANYONE BACK. New blood every damn time.
That might make a difference.
I also do not want to do Mad Max. Good way to a shallow grave, if you are lucky, if you ask me.
You’d be right, if there had been any incremental improvement. WHich there hasn’t been. Every election we are told “it took a while to get in the hole, it’ll take a while to get out of it”
ANd no one wants to see Mad Max or any other war. No sane person, that is.
And you can prove there is no incremental improvement.
I see no improvement. Yet. Perhaps when th new congress convenes.
“Cromnibus”. Boehner re elected. I see nothing changing.
Perhaps I am wrong. Do you see improvement? Please provide examples.
Indeed. Plenty of examples. When i am not typing on a telephone i will begin to enumerate them. I will not be able to finish, as there are so many.
I await your extensive list…..
Well, I just drove 72 miles in miserable weather surrounded by morons, after spending an 11 hour day on my feet in new not broken in yet work boots, and I just got done snowblowing the driveway and eating my first meal of the day, but before I pass out in front of the fireplace I’ll give a swing at it.
Because people got out and voted, we have a republican house and senate. Not for the first time, granted, but for the first time, a number of the newly elected are real conservatives, or at least give every impression of being so. And the built in agenda of the “Mainstream” republicans is becoming clear, and it is getting press, and people are chafing at it. If people came out and voted in those numbers and with that enthusiasm in every election, it would really only take a couple dozen years to effect useful and long term change; in the meantime, a lot of people will be wandering around saying things like ‘The lesser of two evils is still evil” and “if voting changed anything, it would be illegal”.
Anyone who wants to tell me what the congress and senate will do, should put the winning lotto numbers for tomorrow’s megamillions in an envelope on my front porch. Those who do not, can make no claim to be able to predict the future.
If the incrememts that have been made are not to your satisfaction, then I want to hear your detailed plan. Until I have a detailed plan that is proven to work, I’ll stick with the one we have. And keep using it, and keep pulling the weight of those who do not.
THose newly elected boys and gorls who are “real Conservatives” chose to support the old guard. THEY RE_ELECTED Boehner.
I cannot predict what they will do either. But the fact that they chose the same old leader when his leadership is wildly unpopular tells me a lot.
YMMV (and obviously we see things differently.
Try a more cogent list when you aren’t so tired. I DO understand how your day went what with the weather and all that, I;m not being snarky here.
B: Boehner was going to get elected regardless. Who else actually campaigned and ran? Nobody. The choice was boehner or pelosi. If ALL the republicans had voted against boehner without a very strong candidate, we would have Pelosi again. I don’t want that, maybe you do. if you look seriously at the situation you will come to the same conclusion. let the new guard in for a couple years, and support them with your acts and with your votes, and then see where we are. or just say, nah, it’s hard. I’ll just give up. it’s not working fast enough to suit me. I know that’s not how you were raised, I’ve seen your work.
Incidentally,in the vein of creeping incrementalism, nine states have rejected common core. Indiana will allow hunting with real rifles this year. A judge in California has overturned the ludicrous ban on foie gras. Incrementalism does not just involve voting, but it does involve voting.
Yeah, long guns to hunt deer. Now we are talking. Closest I can get is a muzzy shooting loose black horn 209. Would be nice to be using my 308 instead.
