A long and bloody winter
And we have a few more hard days of it yet, but it looks like by month end winter’s back will be broken. It will be a long and busy summer, with a good deal of hard work ahead.

In a somewhat perverse way, I think winter is going to be around a long time this year…cause more than one outlet has suggested the CUBS are going to (finally) be in the World Series!! This current somewhat unseasonably cold weather is perhaps indicative of there being ice water in Hell right about now, adding more credence to the chances of the Northsiders going to the dance.
It is a little early to wait ’til next year,” so why not? :D
My local team is in a rebuilding phase — they released or traded most everybody and they’re starting over again with youngsters. They should have gone whole hog and fired the coach and all of his assistants too but they didn’t. That’s probably the real problem. They DID fire the general manager, so maybe there’s hope.
This season they’re apparently wearing caps from the first year they came to Atlanta .. .boy, do they look dorky!
So mostly I expect a year of learning all the new names of the people I dunno, which is a lot. And very few calls of “Braves win!” Which is not so unusual in any season.
Falcons are doing the same thing. This is why Atlanta is dubbed Loserville.(Don’t let the Hawks fool you; they’re lulling everyone into a nice feeling that will last until they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, which will probably start any day now.)
Spring is, hopefully, just around the corner. We usually have much nicer weather by now but this year has been truly the cruel and bleak midwinter that won’t let go.

This is the winter of our discontent.
And I see precious little evidence of a glorious summer in te offing
In the PacNorWest, Spring started a month ago. We have the warmest Winter on record. Local mountains have only 9% of normal snow pack. It will be a very dry summer. Brown lawns by July 4…
This was a good winter. only a month long. First with the new wood stove cooking up some extra heat. Discovered that one chord is not enough for a real winter of 3+ months.
Nor is it saving any money if I buy the best firewod money can buy, (and pay the gouge for having a light chord actually delivered when I pay for a full one).
So, now I have all summer to stock up and let it season.
I fully expect to be shoveling snow down here until mid-May. The Indy 500 will be run with flurries flying.
Not quite correct, Knox. THIS:

is the winter of our disc content.
After all, that looks like a happy baby…
