My name is Earl
I don’t watch regular tv with any regularity- but this show, I get. The wife started watching it, and I can safely say, that other than CSI with Marg Helgenburger, this is the only show on TV worth watching.
A moment on CSI: I know some Actual forensic folks, crime scene folks, and these shows are mostly bullshit. yeah, there’s some real shit going on, but there’s a lot less razzle-dazzle science and a lot more plain copwork that goes into this. I mostly watch to see Marg’s heiny. And the way she wiggles when she walks.
Anyway, back to Earl. The idea that Karma is a force is a nice one, and a comforting one, but not too based in reality. People who are genuine pricks get really lucky breaks all the time, and people that are genuinely concerned about their fellow human get shit on all the time (Boy, do I ever know THAT!) The message of Earl is, don’t do it because Karma is gonna get you, do it because it’s the right thing. And if it benefits you too, great. If not, deal with it. Someone has to carry the load, and for everyone that shirks their burden the rest of us have to take up the slack. Grab the rope and pull, folks. The load only gets heavier- but if a lot of us do it together, we can have a good time while we’re doing it. And watch Earl. Funny shit there.

I think I watch Earl for the same reasons you watch Marg. Not the hiney or the wiggle, but the eyes. Oh, those eyes – I’d be putty in his hands.
I am a Renaissance Man and shun the television as a medium for philosophical discourse and instruction. When I face a crisis of the spirit or conscience, I turn to the trusty philosopher kings like The Mad Ogre, Kim du Twat, and The Neanderpundit.
I dunno how it will sit with my spiritual advisors, but I kinda think that what goes around comes around. Often with interest on it. So it is that antagonizing large smelly ape like men carries an element of risk. It is far more healthy to treat them well and hope for the best!
Please note that the best T&A is likewise found on the internet. Can a pervert be a Renaissance Man?
:)
I suspect most true rennaisance men were indeed pervs.
I agree – as far as comedy on TV, “My Name Is Earl” is the best thing going BY FAR.
I do like “House” and “24” as well, but not for the funny.
Yes, yes. Marg. (rolls eyes)
Earl is hilarious. Reminds me of my family sometimes, except I believe Earl is a little less dysfunctional.
I’m like you – don’t watch much TV. But, I happened to catch an episode of Earl a couple of weeks ago and became instantly hooked (almost). It’s funny.
