And another thing:
You people with those got-damned comments that force you to fill in your name every time, won’t remember my information, make me type some goddamned sanskrit word or another that is twisted up like Barbara Boxers panties, you folks are pissing me off. I work very hard at keeping coment spam off Neanderpundit, and then I have to work hard to even MAKE A COMMENT at other people’s blogs. I do because I want to comment, but it’s growing increasingly annoying. Stop it. if you were all Michelle Malkin, and got thousands of pieces of comment spam every day, I could see it, but even the teeny little blogger blogs are using this. It’s remarkably annoying.

You know what really chaps my ass?
When you’re a teeny blog and still get 600+ comment spams/day, and thats with MT-blacklist and SpamLookUp installed.
I hate captcha’s, but I’m installing one anyway and if anything much gets through that I’m dropping moveable type.
PS: Why in the hell hasn’t anyone bitchslapped me for not blogrolling all you folks I met at Fritz Fest?!?!
I’m a absent minded asshole, I need reminders people! Taped to the knuckles of an oncoming fist is necessary….
Damn, Grau, you’re right, I havent blogrolled the bunch either. You know, as my Blogroll is getting large, maybe we can execute a multi-level blogroll? Like, open a Midwest Bloggers blogrolling account, and just have one link to that.
I only have two readers and I’m one of them.
I’m both of your readers, Dick. At my size.
Hey, your fancypants MT blog didn’t remember MY information!
I use the “sanskrit” authentication so that *I* don’t have to work very hard to keep comment SPAM off my blog. And it’s free and I don’t have to learn any new programming. When blogging gets to be too much like work, I’ll probably quit.
Use the Firefox browser and it remembers your information for you. If you’re inputing standard fields (like name or e-mail) it will also guess when you start typing at sites you’ve never been to before.
As for Spam software, I have about three regular readers and get a lot of spam comments. I’m using WordPress with Spam Karma installed. I never have to touch anything with Spam Karma. Install and forget about it. Commentors get through, spam doesn’t. You have to like security software with user levels named “normal”, “kinda mean”, and “total beeatch”.
The proprietor of a blog doing the work so it’s easy for commentors to comment, is called “customer service”, a term with which many are unfamiliar. I’m not gonna make it ANY harder for my commentors to comment, shit, blacklist throws some of the best ones out to begin with.
I especially hate those word verification comments. It really screws me up, especially when I’ve been drinking. Which contrary to popular belief is not always.
That’s the part I like about Spam Karma. Type a comment, hit submit, done. It doesn’t have any of that type this blurry word, name the capital of South Dakota or we’ll blacklist you crap.
Well, I don’t have word verification on LiveJournal, but it does piss me off that non-LJ users have to post anonymously, and paste their URL into the comment if they want to ID themselves. I hope that’s a forthcoming improvement.
Jeez, I wish I had problems like that wit’ my liddle-biddy blog…..
