Weekend Update.
Saturday was the maiden voyage of the Ace Case Range Bag. very nice indeed- made well, compartments etc in the right location and the right size, solid zippers, made in USA. And about the price of a chinese piece of crap.
I also tried out the Howard Leight Impact Sports, which I like a good deal because they are thin at the bottom and will allow me to cheek weld properly on a rifle. This was a Tam reccomendation, and it was a good one.
Painfully, the shooting itself was horrible. I will have to start shooting at a refrigerator box at four feet, and then back off a foot at a time when i begin to be able to reliably hit the box.

Snap caps for dry firing are your friend for practice.
That way you can practice your hold and squeeze in the privacy of your home.
Yep, got some sunday.
I’ve had days at the range, where I shot so poorly, I’d have to re-start by shooting from the inside of the box, just to have a chance to hit the damn thing.
And even then, it’d be an iffy proposition.
Ditto the dry fire and snap caps. And at the risk of sounding all new-agey n’ stuff, “visualization” and recall of one’s muscle memory from those rare GOOD days at the range, also goes a long way to slaying the bad-habit demons.
But yeah, I’ve found that when I’m having a truly sucky day at the range, I’ll either pack it in for that session, or at minimum, take a 30 min break away from the firing line.
Seems to help, at least for me.

I guess a refrigerator box works if you haven’t got a barn handy.
…said the guy who hasn’t fired a gun in four years. *sigh*
I guess I better get out soon. Not sure how good I will be right now.
