Oy.
I bought the second ppx with the theory that i would put a can on it. The threaded barrel was literally a few dollars more.
And then i find out a can for it costs waaaaay more than the gun. Come on. I know precisely what goes into making one of these things, and they should cost $90. I dont begrudge the mfrs their income, lord knows, but it is specifically the stupidity of the law regarding supressors that engenders this ignorance. Guess ill forego that expense.

You could always make it yourself. It’s not that hard. Just apply for the necessary permit from the ATF, pay the stamp, and go for it.
I’m not a liewyer, but my understanding is you can do the following, ymmv, talks to someone you trust to actually know stuff first:
Apply for and pay for all the necessary gov’t bs.
Manufacture something that threads on the barrel but does not in itself function as a suppressor. This will be your adapter for whatever you intend to screw on later.
When you get your stamp/serial number (not before!!), engrave/stamp/carve it into the thing you made that screws on your barrel.
Now you can experiment with different versions of whatever actually suppresses stuff without having to register each version, working or not.
Might not be a horrible idea. I dont have to experiment, i know exactly what works.
They should cost $90 and be sold in blister packs on an endcap at your local big box sports emporium.
But we are saddled with stupid laws.
filter of the oil.
Hard to siggt around oil filters.
Not all of them are 4 inches in diameter. The ones from a 85 celebrity 4 come to mind.
OK for an AR, not so much for other things. I have seen those adapters out there.
And don’t try making one without paying the tax. Because that would be wrong! Just because you have the tools, knowledge, skill, and materials to make one yourself doesn’t mean you have permission.
if you were to make one yourself, you wouldn’t need to make it semetrically round, so no worries about sighting problems.
Indeed.
Making the threaded adapter with multiple threaded bushings / inserts so that the hole matches the proper diameter for different bullets might be a option.
The real hard part for you would be making the adapter fit your double rifle and your singles.
Only the AR and the PPX. A double should bark and bite.
What kind of rifle and what kind of can are you talking here?(Class III dealer/sot mfg)
9mm/ar15
Ar15.com has a thread on rolling your own. 200 for tax stamp. I assume you have the talent and a few hours to take care of the rest once the stamp is approved.
Let me know if you want some cad layouts. It might be fun to cad one up.
In a 9mm at least, there’s the necessary “recoil booster” to overcome the “locked breech tilting barrel”. Adds a bit of expense.
